lol found this image from 2023, this is AI btw.
This was when Midjourney came out on discord. I was so blown away by it then. I remember some other Ethiopian was in the discord and they prompted it to make an image of friends the TV show but as an Ethiopian cast.

First week where I was able to finish up work on time, man I'm gonna love getting used to this. We had a bit more art stuff this week, was reading a lot about that too.
I'm trying to get back into designing and sketching again, but it's like once you're off work then there's home work then there's a few hours in a day where I have some time to myself. Kinda wanna be selfish and have fun in those few hours. But I've got a plan to finish our annual goal too soooo
I'm so tired rn, gotta rest up.
Love, Lyka ❤️

| 3 | I'm finally on Odit, used to track my expenses manually now google sheet, now this is just perfect.
I wish there was a blur icon or smt to hide all the info at once, maybe there is hmmm
Does it track Foreign Currency accounts?
Can we add other banks too, like international ones, fintech, etc?
Can't wait to see where this goes really loving it.

| 5 | Patience is a must to make anything work, from your projects, career, inter-personal relationships, etc.
My mother used to say I was like Peter from the bible, tolo joro yeqoretew, I had no patience lol
But as I've grown older I've realized how important it is. Life is the longest long game, and so it needs patient players.

| 6 | Artist 21: Hokusai
About: Hokusai (1760 - 1849) has been on my list of artists I wanted to study for a while now, if you remember I've made a post about Ukiyo-e before, while writing about Ito Jakuchu.
Hokusai had the chance to walk on the path to mastery, he started his painting journey at the age of 6. He was a man of many names, it's estimated that he had at least 30 names during his lifetime. It's said that he was able to produce over 30,000 paintings over the span of his career.
His major works include:
1. Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (1830–1832)
2. One Hundred Views of Mount Fuji (1834–1835)
3. Hokusai Manga (1814–1878)
4. A Tour of the Waterfalls of the Provinces (c. 1832–1833)
5. Rare Views of Famous Japanese Bridges (1831–1834)
6. Oceans of Wisdom (Chie no umi) (c. 1833–1834)
7. Snow, Moon, and Flowers (Setsugekka)
8. Eight Views of the Ryukyu Islands (1832)
9. Famous Views of the Eastern Capital (Edo)
10. Flowers and Birds (Kachō-e)
11. Ghosts and Legends
12. Warriors (Musha-e)
NOTE: I scoured the internet to find some of the links. This is a good site that has most of his work. I didn't check everything but it's for the most part one of the few sites that has his works in catalogued series .
Site: Katsushika Hokusai: Catalogue Raisonne - The complete work
He's well know for his works such as The Great Wave of Kanagawa and Fine Wind, Clear Morning (or Red Fuji).
From the age of six, I had a passion for copying the form of things and since the age of fifty I have published many drawings, yet of all I drew by my seventieth year there is nothing worth taking into account. At seventy-three years I partly understood the structure of animals, birds, insects and fishes, and the life of grasses and plants. And so, at eighty-six I shall progress further; at ninety I shall even further penetrate their secret meaning, and by one hundred I shall perhaps truly have reached the level of the marvellous and divine. When I am one hundred and ten, each dot, each line will possess a life of its own.
- Hokusai
He died at the age of 88, it's said that he exclaimed on his deathbed, "If only Heaven will give me just another ten years ... Just another five more years, then I could become a real painter"
A haiku he composed shortly before his death reads: "Though as a ghost, I shall lightly tread, the summer fields".
He has had a major influence in European art, especially around the time of Japonism. His influence doesn't stop only in visual arts, he has also inspired the Hugo Award winning book 24 Views of Mt. Fuji, by Hokusai by author Roger Zelazny.
I love his work, his commitment to his craft is overwhelming. 82 years of art, 30,000 paintings, and a great influence on art that came after him.

| 7 | A Tour of the Waterfalls of the Provinces
A Tour of the Waterfalls of the Provinces (Shokoku taki meguri) is a series of landscape woodblock prints by artist Hokusai.
Inspired by his religion Nichiren Buddhism, a religion that believes the gods and spirits inhabit the surrounding nature. It's a great use of the pigment of that time Prussian blue, and are considered to be a masterpiece of landscape art.

| 8 | If you were offended by this, just think of it in reverse like if I were to say "I'm independent, I don't need a woman" I think most women would say that's a ridiculous claim.
I support self-sufficiency, but not to be isolated from the opposite sex or some utter idiocy like that, but for yourself to be content with yourself, that's it.
Because if you really think about it, the reasons why most women say that might be rooted in bad experiences with men, or they have been oppressed by a patriarchal system, etc but I'd argue that's because those men were bad humans rather than them just being men. For there are men that have had the same experiences from women. I don't think the awful women who did those men wrong are to blame because they're women. It's because they're terrible humans. So, it's a humanity thing in my eyes.
Even let's say it's a patriarchy thing for the sake of a hypothetical, that means it's a systematic, structural, political, etc issue. Wouldn't it be reasonable to say women need men in the movement against it or not? Just for you to think about.
You are free to be what you want to be, there's no right way to live in this instance only the way you want to live, if you think the prior is a better way, then good luck, if you think the later is better, good luck to you to.
P.S. I have been thinking about this for a while, I just wanted to say my piece. Personally I'd advise every woman in my life to get their stuff together before marriage, to have to their own asset, to be fiscally stable, and all around responsible for themselves. Because through these things comes choice and within choice there's power. I believe marriage should come out of love. If you're going to marry, you should probably do it because you love the man, not because you're afraid of being homeless.
And I think women might have this assumption of their relationships being more supportive and close (close should be in air quotes lol) and I might be wrong, but I'd recommend you to read this paper: Sex Differences in Same-Sex Friendship

| 9 | Women that proclaim "I'm independent, I don't need a man" are on the way to becoming men with all the cons, and not a single pro. On the way to depression and high suicide rates.
They're acting like "men", but that's the same problem men struggle with feelings of weakness when asking for help, and that's why a lot of us die early. If you're a woman don't be like that for your own sake, believe me the grass ain't greener on this side, men have been like that for eons and all we have to show for it is more suffering.
Be independent but never feel like that's what you're supposed to be. The truth is we all need someone, where would I be without all the great women in my life. That doesn't make me any less of a man, and you asking for help from a man doesn't make you any less of a woman. It just makes you more human.

After all this time, I'm proud to say I've finally fixed all my problems. I've been trying to sort things out for the past year (a little over that tbh) and I finally did it!
It was a rough journey to set everything up, a lot of sleepless nights, a lot of sacrifices but it was all worth it in the end. Now I can work to my heart's content. I want to scale my business, I don't really know how, especially with all the caps we have living here, but I'll find a way like I always do.
I went to visit my family, it was nice to go and check on everybody. My mom misses me a lot, she used to joke when I used to tell her that I'ma move out as soon as I can. She seems really proud of me, I can't even count the number of times she has blessed me, I just want to make her happy you know. With all the things we had to face, I just wish I could do more. But all in due time, for now I'm doing my part.
Gave my old/first laptop to my little brother, all I was thinking about when I was installing windows on it was, how in the hell did I make edits with this. It's really slow, slowest thing I've worked on. But it got me here, made me realize my stubbornness.
Right now I'm sick with the flu, but will recover soon. Since I've setup everything now I can do our usual post, more art, more books, more interesting stuff coming your way. For the first time in a while I feel happy.

P.S. Thought you might like it, since you liked the last one. That's me in 12th grade lol. Used to document a lot of myself back then.

A 0/7 week!
I'm exhausted, I don't know why I have to solve every problem in my life, again and again and again. It seems like a never ending battle. I'm a stubborn man, but sometimes it's too much. I can't sleep like I used to, it's quite funny now that I think about it. For all the good I've done fails in comparison to all the deeds I yet have to do. I am hopeful my labor won't be in vain, and all these little things will be forgotten.
I haven't journaled in a while, I should probably do that.
I've got some business to finish up, which I will do soon enough, then I can rest.

A 1/7 week!
Damn, I sometimes look back and wonder how in the hell I'm still here, too many hours clocked.
This week was kinda weird, all I know is I've been working, and the time slides over me. I was worried about some plans that I had, but it seems like it's going to work out, finally!
Met up with my friends after a while. I don't go out much tbh, cause I'm usually workin and that's at home so, I spend all my time at home and staring at the same wall for a while kinda drives you to insanity.
I didn't have time to do my side projects this week since I had a lotta work, over delivering on my KPIs kinda makes me stable.
I'm close to ironing out something that's been on my mind for a while now. I think after that I'll have more time.
Watched Obsession, I'm a sucker for horror and it was fun, I'm kinda desensitized atp but this was sorta a new take on horror that I enjoyed, will be writing the review soon enough.
Now I've got to go to sleep, really exhausted.
Love, Lyka ❤️

| 19 | UPDATE:
1. I got my Master Card
2. Credited it successfully
PROCESS:
1. File a request on the app
2. Go to a branch and write a letter to the bank saying you want it to be credited
NOTE: Have a picture of your passport, I believe they need it to fill some forms. The accountant likes me so he did the other stuff I had to go since I had a meet up. It took them about 8 hours to approve the request. Tried it and worked just fine.

A 2/7 week!
A great week. One of the things that's been troubling me for over a year now is Ethiopia's banking system and I've finally gotten that sorted out. Although I love my country, it seems like it's not great to place to scale, I'll find a way.
Got a chance to design and watch a film, been a while since I did that and it's a testament to solving the obstacles that used to create friction between me and my workflows.
More of that to come, only have a few more things to solve, which I will.
