早安 ! ! ! ! !
I wish you all a very Chinese Wednesday ❤️
Interesting how among the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac, Dragon is the only fictional one. Maybe they did exist at some point during Neolithic period in China but died out 🤔
Chinese dragons are very different from the European counterpart though, it's kind of just a big snake with an unusual head
"Evil thoughts which arise against our will are accompanied by remorse, and so they soon disappear; but when they are freely chosen, they are accompanied by pleasure, and so they are hard to get rid of."
-Saint Mark the Ascetic

Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens in Greece! 3️⃣
When Athens became the capital in 1834 it was a small town with no church fit to serve as the seat of the national church, and King Otto and Queen Amalia laid the foundation stone on Christmas Day 1842. The original plans were drawn up by the Danish architect Theophil Hansen, who intended a building in a mixed neoclassical and Byzantine manner, but the design was revised repeatedly during a construction that dragged on for twenty years. Dimitrios Zezos, François Boulanger and Panagis Kalkos each took charge of the works in turn. It was consecrated on 21 May 1862 in the presence of the king and queen, only months before Otto was deposed.
The cathedral holds the relics of two saints closely tied to Athens and the struggle for independence. Saint Philothei, a sixteenth-century Athenian nun killed by the Ottomans for her charitable work and for sheltering enslaved women, and Patriarch Gregory V, hanged in Constantinople in 1821 at the outbreak of the Greek revolution, was reinterred in the cathedral in 1871 after his body was brought from Odessa.
The building suffered serious structural damage in the earthquake of 1999 and was afterwards closed for a long time, with its interior hidden by scaffolding for more than a decade while the state and the Church struggled to fund repairs. The restoration was completed in 2016 and the cathedral is still active today! 🥰
