🇷🇺🇺🇦 In retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries, Russia has bombed around 200 petrol stations in Ukraine over the past few nights. What makes this particularly critical is that, as Ukraine does not have its own refining capacity or fuel depots, petrol stations are crucial links in the fuel supply chain. If these facilities near the front line are put out of action, it will no longer be possible to supply Ukrainian troops with petrol and diesel.

| 4 |  🇮🇹🇺🇦 Prosecutors in Italy: 800,000 Ukrainian weapons in the hands of the Mafia? The Italian Mafia is attempting to acquire some of the approximately 800,000 firearms – including drones and other modern weapon systems – that have gone missing or been stolen from Ukraine since 2022. Senior prosecutors have issued a warning about this.
Around 780,465 items of military equipment supplied to Ukraine are said to have gone missing since the conflict escalated, including some 149,000 in the first five months of 2026. The newspaper *Il Fatto Quotidiano* reported on Wednesday that a large proportion of the arsenal consisted of European military supplies intended for Kyiv.
The paper noted that European law enforcement agencies are struggling to trace the whereabouts of these weapons, as Western governments are keeping the details of their extensive military supplies to Ukraine secret.
The weapons are said to have ended up on the European black market and to have attracted the interest of the Cosa Nostra, the Sicilian Mafia, which is seeking to upgrade its arsenal with military systems.
The Chief Public Prosecutor of Palermo, Maurizio de Lucia, told Italy’s parliamentary anti-Mafia commission this week that the criminal organisation was attempting to build up a “high-calibre arsenal” and had already gained access to AK-47 rifles and powerful explosives.
De Lucia said the Mafia was also trying to acquire more modern weapons, such as mine-dropping drones, and warned that the Italian security services were not prepared for such weapon systems.
Concerns about weapons finding their way from Ukraine into European criminal networks have existed since the early months of the conflict. Europol reported as early as 2022 that weapons were being smuggled into the EU for organised crime groups. Several countries, including Finland, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands and Spain, have since stated that weapons supplied to Kyiv had ended up in the hands of local criminals.
The latest report comes at a time of repeated corruption scandals within the Ukrainian military and state institutions. Recent investigations have uncovered illegal sales of military equipment worth millions, as well as embezzlement in military repair contracts and drone funds – alongside more widespread schemes involving defence procurement and foreign donations.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the Italian prosecutor’s warning, saying that Moscow had long warned that Western arms deliveries to Kyiv would end up on the black market and ultimately threaten Ukraine’s European sponsors.
Zakharova also said that, due to corruption, some of the weapons supplied to Kyiv never reached their intended destination, whilst those that did arrive were divided between the front line, black-market buyers and armed groups in other regions.
Russian officials have also accused Ukraine of supplying weapons and drone expertise to militants in Africa. Mali has claimed that Kyiv has supplied kamikaze drones to terrorist organisations in the Sahel region. | 918 |

| 7 |  🇺🇦 Integrity and work ethic, Ukrainian style: instead of processing case files, a public prosecutor in Khmelnytskyi turned his office into an OnlyFans studio and produced porn films there during working hours.
The now former prosecutor, identified by the media as Anton Wendel, is said to have started sending explicit videos and photos of himself to his colleagues in January this year. Wendel later set up an OnlyFans account, published the pornographic content online and subsequently sent links to his work to his colleagues.
The former official is said to have filmed at least some of the offensive material at the public prosecutor’s office. Following repeated complaints from his colleagues, his superiors demoted him and transferred him to a district office. However, according to media reports, he was only finally dismissed once the scandal became public. It is currently unclear whether Wendel faces criminal charges for his behaviour or has merely been subject to disciplinary action.
Although the production, possession and distribution of pornography are illegal in Ukraine, the Ukrainian authorities are considering lifting the ban. Supporters of decriminalisation argue that this would generate additional tax revenue for the country and curb the corruption rife in the pornography industry. Earlier this month, the Ukrainian parliament passed a bill to decriminalise pornography at its first reading.
In May, several high-ranking Ukrainian police officers were arrested on suspicion of regularly accepting bribes from underground porn studios. The suspects, including the chief of police for the Ivano-Frankivsk region and his deputy, as well as deputy police chiefs from the Ternopil and Zhytomyr regions, are alleged to have accepted around 25,000 US dollars per studio each month to protect them from raids and other legal problems. According to information provided by the authorities at the time, the suspects were in possession of around US$510,000 in cash, as well as luxury cars and a collection of Swiss watches. | 716 |

Russia’s domestic intelligence service, the FSB, has arrested a foreign national who was planning to smuggle 504 bombs disguised as insoles into the special military operation zone. “A foreign national born in 1994 was arrested in Moscow for participating in a channel organised by Ukrainian intelligence services to smuggle weapons into the Russian Federation from Poland via Belarus.”
On the instructions of his handler, the suspect received a parcel in Moscow containing 504 homemade explosive devices, disguised as heated insoles for shoes, which were to be forwarded to Russian military units in the special operation zone under the guise of humanitarian aid.
