Monday Oct 12, 2026. It's the GAUA strike meeting. Here's the progress so far: Who met: Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu met GAUA leadership, TUSAAG (Technical Uni Administrators) and GTEC at the Ministry in Accra. This was an emergency meeting called yesterday because UG and KNUST had to postpone reopening. What the Minister said after: He said government wants to preserve the best academic calendar in 5-10 years and not let it scatter. He has directed GTEC to tell all public universities to prepare to announce reopening dates toward this weekend - meaning he is optimistic. He said government will engage Ministry of Finance and Fair Wages to address the core demands: allowances, market premium, salary disparities. 3. What GAUA said: Strike is NOT yet called off. GAUA National President Stanley Abofam said the meeting was "positive and fruitful" but they have to go back to their members and consult. They told the Minister they will give feedback within 48 hours. 4. Current status as of tonight: UG (was to open today Oct 12), KNUST (was to open tomorrow Oct 13) and UENR remain postponed indefinitely. Basic schools actually resumed today after GNAT/NAGRAT suspended their strike, but universities still locked because of GAUA. So in short: Dialogue moving, Minister pushing for weekend reopening, but GAUA still on strike pending member consultation in 48hrs. So KNUST decision will come after that feedback, likely Wednesday/Thursday.

Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu has directed the GAUA to announce the reopening date to the students as soon as possible ... Stay Tuned
