Imam Musa al-Sadr | The Killers of Karbala Were the "Least Dangerous Enemies of Imam Husayn (A.S.) Imam Husayn (as) had three groups of enemies: The first group were those who physically killed him. They were the least dangerous of his enemies. because they only destroyed his physical body. The second group tried to erase the traces of the Imam. They demolished his grave, prevented pilgrims from visiting it, and harassed those who lived near his tomb. This group was more dangerous than the first, yet they still failed to achieve their aim. But the third group the most dangerous enemies of Imam Husayn (A.S.) were those who attempted to distort his goals and misrepresent the dimensions of his revolution. These are the ones who tried to eliminate the highest aspect of the Husayni movement: its purpose. I ask myself and you: What have we truly gained from Ashura? What benefit have we derived from it whether publicly or personally? If we have not benefited from it if we have merely wept I must tell you, this alone is of no value. So which group do we belong to? Are we among those who weep for Husayn yet kill him again? *"It is clear that Imam Husayn (A.S.) is not physically present today for anyone to kill him. But something even more precious and important than Imam Husayn himself is in our hands: the dignity of his community. the sanctity of his message.* If we weep while at the same time working to weaken the objectives of Imam Husayn: if we cry, yet stand on the side of falsehood: if we mourn, but lie under oath: if we shed tears, but help the enemies and sow division in our community: if we weep, but increase our sins then *indeed, we are weeping, but at the same time, we are killing Husayn once again,* because we are destroying the very goal he died for something more precious than his own life.
