Assuming there are no scholarships for HND holders is a big mistake. 3. Did you know that with a distinction, you can even get direct admission to a PhD program in some U.S. institutions? Yes, without an MSc or BSc—just your HND! 4. It is often unnecessary to ask schools if you can apply with an HND. Doing so may create doubts about your qualifications. Simply apply, especially if it’s free. They will evaluate your transcripts and make a decision. In many cases, your HND may be considered equivalent to a four-year degree. 5. Whenever you see "degree or equivalent" in the requirements, give it a try. Your HND may often qualify as an equivalent. 6. Of course, some universities and programs might reject your application, but the same happens to some BSc holders. For instance, some universities believe the Nigerian degree curriculum doesn’t meet their minimum credit requirements. So, you’re not alone in facing rejection. 7. Sometimes, you need to put in extra effort to find what works for you. For example, some U.S. universities require a WES evaluation. It’s costly, but if you can afford it, it’s worth doing. 8.
