February 8th is a unique day as three significant occasions are celebrated: 🎊 300 years of St. Petersburg State University 🎊 Day of Russian Science 🎊 190th anniversary of Dmitri Mendeleev's birthday. We are delighted to announce that there is one more solemn event today — the opening ceremony of the student co-working space "Mendeleev". In his time, Dmitri Mendeleev loved binding books, crafting frames for portraits, and even making suitcases. Undoubtedly, our chemists have inherited his creative qualities, showcasing them in the arrangement of a cozy corner for students. The chairmen of Mendeleev 2024 also attended the opening ceremony of the space and have already discussed several topics regarding Mendeleev 2024! #MendeleevSPbU

#topics_MendeleevSPbU Dear collegues! We are pleased to introduce you to the last section of Mendeleev 2024 which is «Economics of the chemical industry in the context of modern challenges» «The chemical industry in the Russian Federation is a system-forming industry that ensures the work of other sectors and complexes of the national economy, therefore, the long-term development of the chemical industry must take into account various economic, environmental, social and political challenges to ensure the competitiveness of the industry. Our section will address issues related to tools and best practices for developing our own base of innovative technologies and sustainable development. The object of special attention will be the digital transformation of chemical sector, ways of financing and measures of state support for high-tech projects, including in the absence of access to international capital markets and the inflow of foreign direct investment» – chairman of the section, Ph.D. in Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Enterprise Economics, Entrepreneurship and Innovation at SPBU, Maria Vetrova. Within the framework of this section, reports on the following areas will be heard: 1. Chemical industry under sanctions and import substitution policy in the industry: short-term solutions and long-term strategies; 2. New international and domestic markets, advanced technologies and products of the chemical industry; 3. Closed-loop economy and climate agenda-«green» chemistry solutions; 4. Digitalization of chemical industry enterprises: challenges and opportunities; 5. State support and financing policy for high-tech projects in the chemical industry. Chairman: Dr. in Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Enterprise Economics, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Maria Vetrova (Saint-Petersburg State University) Secretary: 4th year student of the Faculty of Economics of SPbU, Egor Manzhosov, (Saint-Petersburg State University) Official conference website: https://events.spbu.ru/events/mendeleev-2024 #MendeleevSPbU

#topics_MendeleevSPbU Dear colleagues! We are delighted to present the section of Theoretical Chemistry! “The development of computational chemistry methods and specialized software packages has led to a significant increase in the role of numerical simulations in modern chemistry. The vast majority of advanced chemical research today is a closely integrated effort of experimentalists and theorists. The range of problems that can be solved by methods of computational chemistry - prediction of various properties of molecular systems, investigation of chemical reaction mechanisms, determination of the possibility of reactions before the experiment, etc. - is constantly growing. And although computational chemistry often allows to give answers to questions without going to the real experiment, it becomes possible only with careful design of the numerical experiment and interpretation of the obtained data. The Theoretical Chemistry Section at the Mendeleev-2024 Conference is intended to provide a platform for discussing the latest results from different areas of theoretical chemistry” — Chairman, Dr., Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Organic Chemistry, Elena Tupikina This section will focus on presentations in the following areas: 1. Quantum Chemistry 2. Computational Chemistry 3. AI and ML in Chemistry 4. Molecular Dynamics and Molecular Modeling 5. Theoretical Chemical Kinetics Chairman: Dr., Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Organic Chemistry, Elena Tupikina (Saint Petersburg State University) Secretary: PhD student, staff member of the Laboratory of Nonvalent Interactions, Valeriy Verkhov(Saint Petersburg State University) Oficial website: https://events.spbu.ru/events/mendeleev-2024 VK: https://vk.com/mendeleev.spbu #MendeleevSPbU

#topics_MendeleevSPbU Dear colleagues, happy new year and welcome to 2024! The next section we want to announce is Advances in coordination and inorganic chemistry. "Dear friends! I'm so excited about our upcoming meeting. This means that soon we will discuss new ideas and share the results of our work in our favorite science - chemistry. The year 2024 will be truly remarkable for all of us as it is the 190th anniversary of Dmitri Mendeleev's birth. His groundbreaking work not only bestowed upon us the Periodic Law and the Periodic System, but also provided us with the fundamental tools for understanding the world of compounds and materials. And we look forward to all the participants in our forum celebrating this event together. Inorganic chemistry and the chemistry of coordination compounds continues to be the flagship direction of our studies. As you are well aware, inorganic chemistry integrates all other branches of chemistry and drives scientific advancement at the forefront of modern chemical science, encompassing everything from molecular machines to "smart" functional materials.   Looking forward to seeing you at the conference!” — Chairman, Dr., Associate Professor, Nikita Bogachev This section will cover presentations in the following areas: 1. Fundamental research of coordination and inorganic compounds 2. New inorganic compounds and materials 3. Coordination and supramolecular compounds Chairman: Dr., Associate Professor, Nikita Bogachev (Saint Petersburg State University) Secretary: Dr., assistant, Yulia Toikka (Saint Petersburg State University) Official conference website: https://events.spbu.ru/events/mendeleev-2024 #MendeleevSPbU

#topics_MendeleevSPbU The next section we want to announce is Organic, Organometallic and Medicinal Chemistry! "Organic chemistry is an amazing and diverse world created by nature and humanity. This section of chemistry is, no doubt, one of the largest in modern chemical science, and the merit in this, of course, is its multidisciplinary nature. Thus, our section combines several key areas of organic chemistry — fine organic synthesis, catalysis, medicinal and organometallic chemistry. We hope that the upcoming conference will be an excellent platform for the exchange of experience and knowledge between scientists, postgraduates and students who have chosen this section of chemistry — so diverse and fascinating!" – Chairman, Dr., Associate Professor of the Laboratory of the Synthesis of Small Bioactive Molecules, Olga Bakulina This section will feature presentations in the following areas: 1.
