Similarly, Stalin’s purges sought to destroy the old Bolshevik guard and reshape the Communist Party into a loyal, unquestioning entity centered on Stalin himself. Those targeted during the Purge were often veterans of the October Revolution or figures seen as too independent or powerful, much like how Satan is depicted as the arch-rebel who challenges divine authority. He wanted to replace the old, treasonous leaders with new young vanguard of revolution. The vanguard that would be totally loyal to him and ideas of his expansion to marxism-leninism.
