Dear Teachers, I am pleased to provide you with an update on the HIPPO 2024 initiative. As of today, we have reached a significant milestone with nearly 15,000 students enrolled, marking an increase of over 3,000 participants compared to last year. Here is a breakdown of the testing arrangements: - Approximately 7,000 students will take the test online from home from tomorrow through Sunday. - Another 6,000 students will participate using paper-based tests in schools. - The remaining 2,000 will take the test online in school settings, supervised by teachers. We extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued support and efforts in promoting this program. Our team is committed to ensuring a smooth experience during these testing sessions and aims to release the results within 2-3 weeks after the final test day, this Sunday, subject to the timely receipt of all completed papers. For your reference, the top 10% of students from each HIPPO level (e.g., Baby HIPPO, Little HIPPO, HIPPO 1, HIPPO 2, HIPPO S1, etc.) will advance to the National Final round in May. For instance, in a cohort of 1,000 students at HIPPO 1, the top 100 will qualify. Additionally, any students tied with the 100th-ranked student in terms of score will also progress. Based on previous years, we anticipate that approximately 12-14% of the top performers will qualify due to scoring ties. Once again, thank you for your invaluable support. Dear teachers, I'd like to address some recent confusion regarding the HIPPO online classes I posted above. These sessions, initiated by our European colleagues, aim to aid students in preparing for the HIPPO competition. They are distinct from the free HIPPO online workshops provided to Malaysian students upon joining HIPPO. Our European partners have generously offered seats in their HIPPO online classes, which filled up rapidly after invitations were sent to the HIPPO Malaysia Students Announcement group. While registration is currently closed, they may organize another session next Sunday. Keep an eye out for announcements so you can invite your students accordingly. These classes will utilize the "HIPPO Wonderland" Online English Portal (preview available at https://teflwonderland.com/hippo-wonderland/). Additionally, our Malaysian teachers have been invited to participate and assist. If interested, please contact me directly via WhatsApp for an invitation to their group. It's worth noting that I am not the organizer or initiator of this initiative, but I believe it presents a valuable opportunity for teacher collaboration. Importantly, these classes are separate from the HIPPO competition, and the registration deadline for the competition remains April 1, 2024. I trust this clears up any confusion.

For teachers, if you would like to be part of the teacher's group to help with these sessions, you are most welcome to join these European team. According to the organizer of this online classes, "We will give teachers access to all Hippo Wonderland courses. We will hold a meeting for all teachers to agree on the content and delivery for each category" I can't tell you more about these classes but if you are interested, please send me the name and email directly.
