📂 #Words_of_poetry captured from the mouth of our Shaykh Abu Hamzah Hassan bin Muhammad Ba Shu'ayb, may Allah preserve him and continue to delight us with his knowledge:

العلمُ صيدٌ والكتابة قيدُهُ --- قيِّدْ صيودَك بالحبال الواثقهْ
Knowledge is a prey, and writing is its binding.
فمن الحماقة أنْ تصيدَ غزالةً --- وتفكَّها بين الخلائق طالقهْ
It's from stupidity to hunt a gazelle --- and to release it between the creation untied.
The Shaykh mentioned these lines of poetry tonight in his advice to his students to write down benefits, so one can refer back to it when necessary, because we are not like Imam Ash-Sha'bi, may Allah have mercy upon him, who said:
"I never put black to white".

Some mentioned that writing a line under words (when required) is from the actions of the Europeans, so is it obligatory to leave doing this, and is doing this fall under imitating them?

📑A case study was published in 2014 by two phycological scientists whom found that students who wrote notes by hand actually learn better and were able to recall much better than those who typed notes on a laptop.
