(5)Families will prepare these sticky rice cakes and bring them to the temples, where they are placed on trays and presented to the monks. (6)The monks then recite prayers and blessings over the offerings before distributing them. (7)This act is seen as a way to nourish and honor the ancestors. (8)Another important aspect is the visits to the pagodas. (9)During the fifteen days of Pchum Ben, Buddhists will make frequent trips to their local temples to light incense, make prayers, and perform rituals. (10)This is done with the intention of attaining merit, which can be transferred to deceased loved ones to help them in the afterlife. (11)Overall, Pchum Ben is a time of deep reverence, community togetherness, and spiritual reflection in Cambodia.
