‘Izz al-Dīn al-Qassām went to Shaykh Badr al-Dīn al-Hasanī who passed a Fatwā on Jihād against the Jews in Palestine being obligatory
| 2 |  Shaykh Badr al-Dīn said:
“al-Bazzār narrated from ‘Abdullāh Ibn Mas‘ūd that the Prophet ﷺ said:
My living is good for you, and my passing is good for you. Your actions are presented to me; so whatever I see of good I praise Allāh for, and whatever I see of evil I ask for your forgiveness.
He ﷺ has remained with this Ummah in all circumstances, asking for forgiveness for them.”

| 3 | An example of this, while speaking about the spider web in the enterance of the Thawr cave, he said:
“Its web is made in the shape of hexagons, which is the shape that is most commonly used, because it doesn't leave space between the intersection of its sides”

| 4 | Shaykh Badr al-Dīn was learned in math, engineering, medicine, and other sciences, and he would incorporate them into his lessons. Often, experts in those sciences would attend his lessons and say:
“We have spent our entire lives in this yet we have not reached what the Shaykh has reached”

| 5 | al-Bayhaqī narrated that the Prophet ﷺ asked Abu Dharr: “What is the strongest pillar of Imān?”
Abu Dharr said: “Allāh and His Messenger know best”
He ﷺ said: “Loving for the sake of Allāh and hating for the sake of Allāh”
Shaykh Badr al-Dīn commented: “That is because the entire religion from its beginning to its end is built on this love”

| 6 | +2 Shaykh Suhayl al-Khatīb used to write down Shaykh Badr al-Dīn al-Hasanī's lessons in al-Masjid al-Umawī
These transcribed lessons reached 8 volumes! 5 of them have been edited and printed by his son, Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azīz al-Khatīb, and I am fortunate to have gotten these rare books from Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azīz

| 7 | +1 I heard Shaykh Ismā‘īl al-Zabībī speaking of Shaykh Badr al-Dīn al-Hasanī, he said:
”البدر الساطع، والنور اللامع، الشيخ بدر الدين الحسني“
“The radiating full moon (Badr), and the illuminating light, Shaykh Badr al-Dīn al-Hasanī” | 218 |
| 8 | Shaykh Mahmūd al-Rankūsī is one of the closest students to Shaykh Badr al-Dīn, having not left his side for the last 10 years of his life, thus he is one of the most knowledgeable of his affairs
He says:
“When my father brought me to Shaykh Badr al-Dīn, he told the Shaykh: I want to introduce you to my son, Mahmūd
Shaykh Badr al-Dīn responded: I know him from when he was in his grandfather's loins”

“It is mandatory on every rational person to be abundant ... In remembering it (the Shahāda) while mindful [of what it contains]”
Shaykh Badr al-Dīn commented, saying:
“What is intended by (rational) is the believer, and he was called rational because he is benefitting from his intellect.
As for the disbelievers, they are like animals, because they do not benefit from their intellect.”

In this story there is evidence for the Shaykh following the Hanafī Madhab; where he passed a Fatwā according to it, and hinted at being Hanafī in contrast to the man asking who said that he is Shāfi‘ī

| 19 | The main reason for this dispute is that when Shaykh Badr al-Dīn would be asked about his Madhab, he would say:
نحن عوام يابا
“We are laymen, my son” | 467 |
| 20 | However, I have come across something the Shaykh said which I have not seen anyone use as evidence before, mainly because this book was only recently rediscovered
The Shaykh said:
“The Fuqahā’ have said: If someone says: I have emancipated my old slaves; his 1-year-old(+) slaves are freed.”
al-Budūr al-Jaliyyah, 74
The Shaykh here is referring to the Mālikī view, and he referred to them as “the Fuqahā’” unrestrictedly. This hints to him adhering to the Mālikī Madhab, just like his father Shaykh Yūsuf al-Hasanī | 311 |
