NEW EPISODE — The Outlander — Why Heathens Should Read Greek Tragedy https://hearthfireradio.com/watch?v=sQLixDxn Greek tragedy needs no introduction, but it does deserve wider exposure, especially in the heathen sphere. The Greeks understood, like few other peoples, that the world is not founded on reason and order but on darkness and irrationality—precisely what tragedy shows us. There is something deeply heathen about Greek tragedy. In this episode, Mike calls on us Germanic pagans to embrace it.

NEW EPISODE — Radio North Sea International — Episode 26: The Role of Women in Heathenry https://hearthfireradio.com/watch?v=WpDFIbiu By analysing the roles of women in Heathen England and Iceland and the roles they played in the conversion to Christianity in each place, we can identify a flaw in Heathen culture. This flaw was exploited by Christian missionaries who used women as a way to undermine Heathendom. End music: Van der Graaf Generator - Firebrand

NEW EPISODE — DADS Cook — Spicy Mapo Tofu https://www.hearthfireradio.com/watch?v=onqZpvys Mike is a sucker for spicy Asian food, and in this episode, he pulls out one of the all-time greats. If you like bold, salty, spicy, umami flavours, this dish will absolutely find its way into your regular rotation.

My most recent podcast on Tolkien, with guest 'Eros', was the longest ever Fyrgen podcast. It was also one of my favourite podcast conversations to have and, I think, one of the most important. I have a life-long passion for Tolkien's work, but there's a reason many of us are fans. Even if you've only watched the LOTR films, it's not just the spectacle of it; you sense something far deeper, buried within the storytelling. And that's what this podcast set out to explore. Part 2 will continue the quest. If you have even a passing interest in Tolkien or his work, check it out. The first half is nearly 2 hours long and free to listen to, and holds plenty of insight.

NEW EPISODE — The Bog — The Culture of the Teutons https://www.hearthfireradio.com/watch?v=yoiKqNZX To celebrate the new release of Imperium Press' Restored Edition of Gronbech's The Culture of the Teutons, the Boglords discuss this important work. And since both translators are Bog alumnists, they talk about the translation itself, the differences between this text and the 1931 translation, and why you need to read it to understand the Germanic worldview.

After many comments re: the difficulty of using Gumroad for the podcast, and wanting to elevate the quality and frequency, I've opted to use Substack for future podcast episodes and articles. Please follow the link, and subscribe. You don't have to have the Substack app if you don't want it, and you'll get an email right to the one you enter in any time new stuff is posted. IF YOU'RE A MONTHLY SUPPORTER of the podcast on Gumroad, just cancel the payment there and please consider coming on board here on Substack. Almost everything will be free, as usual, but some material and episodes will be limited to subscribers only, as is the chat. GO HERE FOR MORE

NEW EPISODE — The Outlander — Evil Is Not the Absence of Good https://www.hearthfireradio.com/watch?v=SjruMxyM We are often told that evil is nothing more than a lack of good. This has been popularized in trad circles by Christians for a long time, and in pagan circles by no less an authority than J. R. R. Tolkien. Mike calls this idea into question, explaining how it undermines pagan morality and smuggles universalism into the conversation.

NEW EPISODE — The Fyrgen — Episode 57: Tolkien, the Seer - Part 1, with Eros https://www.hearthfireradio.com/watch?v=sQTuMrmO An epic, impassioned discussion of J.R.R. Tolkien's profound legendarium. Dan is joined by amateur philosopher and Tolkien enthusiast Michael (aka Eros) to dive deep into a body of work which borders on religious in its importance. Was Tolkien merely writing made-up stories, or did he channel something? Why does his creation myth, the Ainulindalë, resonate so strongly? Why did he write about such pagan themes whilst declaring himself a Catholic? And is The Machine trying to co-opt and pervert Tolkien's message? This discussion offers new insight into these works of genius. Links:Silas Speaks feat. Eros • Song: Summoning - Farewell

NEW EPISODE — The Bog — Folkish Marriage https://www.hearthfireradio.com/watch?v=jSMeAgah We talk about forming heathen families, but how does that actually work? Where does a heathen man find a heathen woman? Where does a heathen woman find a heathen man? Or is it better to convert after marriage? Big Dave and a very special guest take you through what might be the most important question of all.

NEW EPISODE — The Outlander — Why Do We Love Sad Songs? https://www.hearthfireradio.com/watch?v=qJpfSfSr It seems strange that we would love something that makes us afraid, and yet we love horror films. Equally strange that we would love art that makes us sad, and yet we do. The Germanic has a grimness in his character that attracts him to this sort of thing. In this episode, Mike dives under the surface to reveal a whole world beneath our folk character.
