Bihar is the third most populous state in India and is home to 4.98 crore children (0-18 years), which is almost half of the state's population (10.4 crore) i.e 48 percent of the total population lies in the age group of 0-18 years. NFHS-5 report- Bihar stunted- 42% wasted- 22% underweight-41% anaemic- 69% Govt Initiatives Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) for age group of 0-6 years, and expectant or nursing mothers, and it was launched on October 2, 1975. The ICDS scheme was initially launched in pursuance of the National Policy for Children in 33 experimental blocks and 4891 Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) in the country, of which 3 blocks were in Bihar. -The ICDS provides a package of six services: supplementary nutrition, non-formal preschool education (for children between the ageof 3 and 6 years), immunization, health check-ups, referral services, nutrition and health education for mothers. -ICDS is running through 544 project offices in 38 districts of Bihar.
