Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.” [59:10] Imam ash-Shawkānī rahimahullāh said: “Whoever does not seek forgiveness for the Companions in general, and does not ask Allah’s pleasure for them, has indeed opposed what Allah has commanded him with in this verse. And if he finds in his heart resentment toward them, then he has been afflicted by a whisper from Shayṭān.” [Fatḥ al-Qadīr 5/202]
