Society would benefit from a ban on all kinds of advertising because it serves no useful purpose and can be damaging. To what extent do you agree or disagree? It is undoubtedly true that advertisements lay at the core of the commercial and social realms. However, there are some who advocate for the prohibition of all forms of advertising, stating that it serves no valuable purpose but, on the contrary, damages society in different ways. In my opinion, while a ban on all the types of advertising would be a short-sighted step to take, it can be imposed based on what is promoted in a particular advertisement and the credibility of information it presents. In the first place, imposing a ban on all advertisements can entail several negative repercussions. Given that advertising is the most effective tool to drive sales and boost profits, its prohibition means that many companies will lose a crucial avenue to reach out to targeted audiences and generate revenue. This can not only bring several fiscal hurdles for commercial organizations, but it can take its toll on the financial profile of nations too, reducing the number of tax-paying companies and leading to economic instabilities. Furthermore, advertisements serve a purpose of disseminating essential information. When promoting a product, advertising agencies cover crucial data about the item, encompassing its prices, content, origin, and advantages, all of which can help people to make informed purchasing decisions. On a relative note, a person looking for a certain crucial product might have to even go to a different part of the world to obtain it, spending huge sums of money, energy, and time, while the medicine is available in their own country but not advertised. However, I contend that a legal restriction can be implemented according to the type of advertisements. When a promotion is about alcohol, drugs, or games encompassing violence, it can be banned completely, as it is deeply damaging to society on different levels, leading to alcohol abuse and the normalization of violence among people. On the other hand, illegalizing advertisements about essential medical equipment, educational tools, and nutritious food alternatives is almost unthinkable, since they deliver information and knowledge regarding important items. Additionally, when an advertisement provides misleading information, such as exaggerated quality, effectiveness, and expiry dates, it should be entirely eradicated from people’s sight, for it can be detrimental for the public health both physically and mentally. Weight loss products can be a decent case in point, with most of their advertisements promising instant results, when it is virtually always untrue. However, as long as a promotion is honest about the product’s efficacy, expiry date, shortcomings, and benefits, restricting it would be both morally and socially wrong. In conclusion, advertising is a multifaceted issue that necessitates a careful consideration. Banning all sorts of advertisements can entail serious financial problems and impede the dissemination of essential information, creating a counterintuitive impact. Therefore, I assert that basing the restriction on the type and credibility of an advertisement would be the most effective way to regulate the influence of advertising, while harnessing its potential to the maximum effect. #task2 #agreedisagree 490 words

In recent times, the impact of televisions exert on children’s behaviour has become a topic of contentious debate. Some people contend that the content children are exposed to through television has the largest influence on the way they behave, while others state that the duration of this exposure is the primary factor. In this essay, I will explore both sides of the argument and present my personal stance on the matter. One school of thought suggests that the type of content portrayed in television programs shape the behaviour of children on the largest scale. Those who adhere to this claim emphasize the negative impact of the exposure to violent scenes, crime, and human suffering on the juvenile psyche, which desensitizes young people. At the same time, channels and programs sharing educational value contribute to a positive shift in child behaviour, encouraging young individuals to acquire knowledge and equipping them with necessary tools to navigate the complexities of the world. Thus, the content absorbed through television does matter as far as the formation of child demeanour is concerned. Conversely, opponents of this view highlight the fact that no matter how detrimental certain content is, if the duration of exposure is too short, repercussions it leaves are also relatively trivial. The longer a child watches a harmful television program with negative role models, crime scenes, and offensive language, the more susceptible they will grow to replicate and reflect such inadequate idols and behaviours. Furthermore, excessive television watching leads to a sedentary lifestyle, with children spending prolonged periods of time in front of a screen, putting themselves at the risk of obesity, social isolation, and depression. However, television is a vital source of information and news, in the absence of which children might not be able to keep up with the current affairs, falling behind the curve and acting in an obsolete manner. In the meantime, I believe that the factors of both content and duration are equally important. Television can offer both negative and positive content. When exposed to programs and movies including abusive and criminal scenes, children are highly likely to reflect such plots in their behaviour, and when presented with educational and informative programs, these young individuals feel compelled to learn more and share their knowledge with others. With that explaining the importance of content, it is time to consider the influence of longevity. It is no doubt true that the addictive nature of televisions leads many children to allocate a large part of their days to watch their favourite show or documentary films. Spending the majority of their time in the virtual realm, children can forget to hone important real-life skills, such as communication, adaptability, and mental resilience, all of which are of utmost importance in rolling with life’s punches and becoming a useful member of society. In conclusion, the influence of television on the youth appears to be a complex issue that necessitates a careful consideration. While some place a greater emphasis on the type of content offered by this physical media, which can be both positive and negative, others highlight the impact of duration, which can introduce health, social, and mental problem to young individuals, while helping them to stay informed about what is happening in the world. Ultimately, I argue that both of these elements carry equal influence in forming child behaviour, with the former effecting children’s perspectives and actions while the latter depriving young people of time to develop essential skill sets. #task2 #discussionessay 577 words

Some universities now offer their courses on the internet so that people can study online. Is this a positive or negative development? The advent of the internet has revolutionized many facets of human life, and education is no exception. The proliferation of online courses offered by universities has led to a significant shift in the way education is delivered and accessed. While this development is not without its drawbacks, I contend that its benefits are far greater. Critics argue that the quality of education and student engagement may suffer in online courses. This is because the absence of face-to-face interaction and hands-on experience can take its toll on the efficiency and speed of knowledge acquisition. The lack of contact with instructors and peers, at the same time, can impede the development of critical thinking and communication skills. Additionally, the digital divide still remains a widespread issue, as not everyone can have reliable access to the internet or the necessary technology to participate in online education. However, these problems are being tackled on a large scale as a result of digital companies and universities’ ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of online education and make digital lessons more interactive. Many universities are now offering online live sessions, discussion forums, virtual labs, and collaboration projects, making online learning more engaging. Furthermore, tech companies are striving hard to avoid technical glitches and provide cheaper alternatives to expensive gadgets needed in online lessons, largely mitigating the problem of digital divide. In fact, the advantages of online university courses are so tremendous that the drawbacks described above pale into complete insignificance. Firstly, the accessibility of education has been significantly enhanced by online courses. Thanks to this increased accessibility, people constrained by physical disabilities, geographical barriers, and financial limitations are now able to continue their higher education. Such democratization of education means that learning is not a privilege available to a few but a right accessible to many. Secondly, online courses offer unmatched flexibility. In traditional academic curricula, rigid timetables and subject schedules dictate the pace of educational progress, which might be difficult for working professionals and those with familial responsibilities. In digital courses, on the other hand, people can learn at their own pace and on their own time from the comfort of their homes. This improved flexibility also allows for the complete absorption of complex concepts, as individuals can spend more time on subjects that they find challenging and less on those that they master quickly. Finally, online education can introduce new teaching methods and learning styles. Digital educational platforms can use multimedia resources, interactive simulations, and instant feedback mechanisms, providing an engaging and interactive learning environment for students. For instance, the platforms such as Udemy, edX, and Coursera offer virtual lectures, automatic assessment tools, and visually appealing video lessons, facilitating the understanding and retention of complicated subject matters. In conclusion, the impact of online education is a multifaceted issue that requires a careful consideration. While some challenges related to quality, engagement, and the digital divide remain, they are soon going to be eradicated by the efforts of tech companies and digital platforms. As a matter of fact, these disadvantages are far outclassed by the enormous advantages that digital courses offer, including enhanced accessibility, flexibility, and innovation in the educational realm. #task2 #developmentessay 525 words

The line graph gives information about workers in 5 European nations being absent from work as a result of health issues for at least a day between 1991 and 2001. Throughout the period given, the figures for Netherlands and France witnessed overall growth. The former started the timeframe at 5%, prior to reaching a peak at 6% a year later; then, however, it witnessed a downward curve, hitting its lowest point at 4.5% in 1996 and the highest at 6% in 2001. The latter, on the other hand, experienced a consistent increase, up from 3% in 1991 to 5% at the end of the timescale. Looking now at the countries with a stable rate of employee sickness absenteeism, the UK and Germany instantly catch one’s attention. The percentages for these nations remained stable at 2.5% and 1.5% throughout the 10-year span given in the question respectively, with the former undergoing staggeringly negligible fluctuations. In stark contrast, the proportion of employees missing a working day or more displayed a significant decline in Sweden, exhibiting a 2% reduction, from 5% in 1991 to 3% in 2001. In summary, it is clearly evident that the figures for countries in the chart showed varying patterns across the years between 1991 and 2001, with those for Netherland and France growing at various rates while those for the UK and Germany levelling of at different points. Of particular note is Sweden, where less and less workers were absent from work due to illness as the period passed by. #task1 #linegraph 252 words

Some people think that hosting an international sports event is good for the country while some people this it is bad. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. Hosting an international sporting event is a topic that polarizes public opinion. Some state that such a tournament is beneficial for the host country, while others contend that it can be detrimental. In this essay, I will explore both sides of the argument and present my own stance on the matter. On one hand, hosting an international sporting competition, such as World Cup or the Olympics, can bring a vast array of benefits. Tourists, athletic delegations, and fans flocking from different parts of the world can enhance the host nation’s economic status, spending huge amounts of money on hotels, transportation, and food. Additionally, global media coverage of such important sporting events can boost the host country’s international profile, potentially attracting foreign investment and tourists. Furthermore, in the event of global athletic competitions, host countries usually invest heavily in upgrading transportation networks, sports facilities, and urban amenities. Such improvements can leave a long-lasting positive impact on the local communities, improving their overall living experience in the country. Qatar hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022 can be an archetypal example in this regard; in this year, the country constructed epic new stadiums, hotels, and transport links that the locals are still enjoying the presence of 2 years after the event. On the other hand, critics of hosting international sports competitions believe that the costs far outweigh the aforementioned benefits. The cost of erecting new stadiums and improving public facilities can place an excessive strain on financial resources of the host nation, diverting funds from other critical areas such as healthcare and education. In addition, many of the structures designated for global sporting competitions fall into complete disuse and disrepair after the events, presenting a monumental waste of government resources. Moreover, international sporting events can lead to social problems too. When people from different parts of the globe and social groups are gathered in the same place, there is a tremendous risk of cultural clashes and hostilities. Such conflicts can negatively impact the international image of the host country, which can become notorious for its lack of hospitality and resonation with other nations, resulting in lowered touristic visits and tarnishing its reputation. In my opinion, hosting international athletic tournaments can be a worthwhile endeavor as long as its negative implications are prevented. Careful planning, transparent budgeting, and ensuring that the infrastructure meets the needs of the local populace after the events are essential for host nations to reap the benefits of such sporting competitions, while avoiding possible pitfalls. In conclusion, hosting international sports events is a complex issue that necessitates a careful consideration, presenting a mixed bag of benefits and drawbacks. While the notable upsides include potential financial gains and improved infrastructure, the possible negative outcomes, such as the underutilization of new sports facilities and damaged international profile, cannot be overlooked. Ultimately, I am firmly convinced that hosting such competitions can be a rewarding enterprise if the potential hurdles are prevented through careful planning. #task2 #discussionessay 492 words
