Tonight’s broadcast ⬆️

Tonight is the eve of Jumu’ah, It is a cold night, Its atmosphere is pleasant and rainy, So it is likely to be the Night of Decree. Strive in supplication, Especially with what the Prophet ﷺ guided our mother ‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) to say: “O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness, so forgive me.” For whoever is pardoned and granted well-being by Allah has indeed been given all good. — Written by His Eminence Shaykh Dr. ʿAbdullāh ibn Ṣalfīq al-Ẓafīrī (may Allah preserve him).

In these last ten, our reminder will be broadcast at 10pm EDT here and on Clubhouse for those who can’t hear on Telegram due to ongoing technical issues.

🆕 The Ideal Way to Supplicate & Pray in the Last Ten -- Ibn Rajab & Ibn 'Uthaymīn (رحمهما الله) [mobile friendly, fully vowelled Arabic text with English translation]. Edited

[A Clear Hadith Showing When the Last Ten Begins (ie., the 21st Night)] It is narrated by al-Bukhari (813) and Muslim (1167) on the authority of Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri, who said: "اعْتَكَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَشْرَ الأُوَلِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ وَاعْتَكَفْنَا مَعَهُ، “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) observed i‘tikaf (seclusion for worship) during the first ten days of Ramadan, and we observed i‘tikaf with him. Then Jibril came to him and said: ‘What you are seeking is ahead of you.’ So he observed i‘tikaf during the middle ten days, and we observed i‘tikaf with him. Then Jibril came to him and said: ‘What you are seeking is ahead of you.’ On the morning of the twentieth of Ramadan, the Prophet (ﷺ) stood up to deliver a sermon and said: مَنْ كَانَ اعْتَكَفَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَلْيَرْجِعْ، فَإِنِّي أُرِيتُ لَيْلَةَ القَدْرِ، وَإِنِّي نُسِّيتُهَا، وَإِنَّهَا فِي العَشْرِ الأَوَاخِرِ، فِي وِتْرٍ، وَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُ كَأَنِّي أَسْجُدُ فِي طِينٍ وَمَاءٍ وَكَانَ سَقْفُ المَسْجِدِ جَرِيدَ النَّخْلِ، وَمَا نَرَى فِي السَّمَاءِ شَيْئًا، ‘Whoever has observed i‘tikaf with the Prophet (ﷺ), let him return, for I have been shown the Night of Decree, but I have been made to forget it. It is in the last ten nights, on an odd night. I saw myself (in a dream) prostrating in mud and water.’ The roof of the mosque was made of palm leaves, and we saw nothing in the sky. Then a cloud came and it rained. The Prophet (ﷺ) led us in prayer until I saw the traces of mud and water on the forehead and the tip of the nose of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), confirming his dream.”

💎With All Due Respect: Clarifying Confusion about An Imaginary Limit for Tarawih Ibn Taymiyyah (d. 728 AH): "وقال طائفة: قد ثبَتَ في الصحيح عن عائشة أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم لم يكن يزيد في رمضان ولا غيره على ثلاث عشرة ركعة، واضطرب قوم في هذا الأصل لما ظنوه من معارضة الحديث الصحيح لما ثبَتَ من سنة الخلفاء الراشدين، وعمل المسلمين." “A group has said: It has been established in the Sahih from Aisha that the Prophet ﷺ did not exceed thirteen rak‘ahs in Ramadan or outside of it. Some people became confused regarding this foundational ruling (i.e., the widely reported consensus that their is no set limit) due to what they imagined to be a contradiction between the authentic hadith and what has been established from the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs and the practice of the Muslims (i.e., that they prayed 20 and more units for Tarawih).”

[The Ugly Pauses in Recitation] The tābiʿī Maimūn ibn Mihrān said: “I shudder at the recitation of some people who see it as an obligation upon themselves not to recite less than ten verses. The reciters of the past would read the stories (fully) whether they were long or short. But today, one of them recites: {And when it is said to them, ‘Do not cause corruption on the earth,’ they say, ‘We are only reformers.’} (Qur’an 2:11), then in the second rakʿah, he recites: {Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters.} (Qur’an 2:12).”[Al-Muktafā fī al-Waqf wa al-Ibtidāʾ by Abū ʿAmr al-Dānī, p. 16-17]
