There is a very important lesson in all of this which is that politics, or power, is personal, it isn't about "principles." The political and the personal have converged in Donald Trump. Never before in American history has the fate of the nation been so inextricably bound to the fate of one man.
Trump represents an independent entity and wields power personally— his own impulses, grudges, relationships. The system fears this, that's why they wanted DeSantis because he can be managed, there is no ego there, he doesn't command the allegiance of millions either.

People have been constantly repeating the phrase “politics is downstream from culture” without ever thinking about it for the last ten years. It’s not insightful and I don’t even think it’s true. Politics is not downstream from culture. If anything it’s the complete opposite.
What seems to be driving current developments is not “culture” but a new wealthy class of tech founders and the effects of their inventions.

This debate was very insightful into how religious Jews really see Catholicism. The Jewish guy at one point straight up said that if Israel ever gets enough strength, it will destroy the Vatican and Catholic Church. He also noted that Protestantism is the "good" version of Christianity because it's more pro-Jewish. He even said he prefers Islam to Catholicism. I mean he really just laid it all out.
Supporting Israel as a Catholic means supporting the destruction of your own religion.
