🌍 Monday Macro Market Update
🌐 Top-line macro: Global macroeconomic concerns intensified as the Federal Reserve enacted its first interest rate hike in three years, with the Bank of Japan also raising rates by 25 basis points. Inflationary pressures are escalating due to exploding global shipping costs, Hormuz disruptions, and surging energy and heating expenses.
💱 FX: The Japanese Yen declined following the Bank of Japan's interest rate hike, which brought rates to their highest level in 31 years.
🛢 Commodities: Energy markets remain a key concern as rising oil prices and heating costs are expected to worsen the current price crunch and fuel global inflation. Geopolitical factors, including the Iran war and trade route disruptions, further influence commodity outlook.
🪙 Crypto: Bitcoin reclaimed the $80,000 mark and Ethereum approached $2,620, despite a hawkish Fed stance and the significant failure of the CLARITY Act in the U.S. Senate. This regulatory setback led to notable Bitcoin ETF outflows, even as Layer-2 and DeFi tokens saw broad advances.
👉 This week, markets will closely monitor evolving geopolitical tensions and central bank communications for further insights into inflation and policy direction.

🌍 Monday Macro Market Update
🌐 Top-line macro: US consumer inflation accelerated in August, primarily driven by increases in gasoline and cellular service costs, maintaining elevated price pressures above the Fed's target. In response to persistent high inflation, the European Central Bank raised its key interest rate to 2.5%, with President Lagarde signaling that inflation is expected to worsen before improving.
💱 FX: The US dollar approached a seven-month low last week as the Japanese Yen rallied, with market participants closely watching upcoming US Treasury buyback announcements and fresh inflation data.
🛢 Commodities: The global oil market continues to face significant pressure, with analysts revising 2027 price forecasts upward due to ongoing Middle East shipping disruptions, diminishing stockpiles, and the Iran war contributing to rising gas prices.
🪙 Crypto: Bitcoin displayed signs of a rebound as selling pressure reached historic lows, and the CEO of Coinbase indicated a belief that Bitcoin has bottomed. Furthermore, the SEC appeared to grant a significant clearance for XRP, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana within Nasdaq Texas Commodity Trusts, suggesting potential regulatory progress.
