As I don’t like history subject that much, writing this essay has been a bit challenging. If you read and give your own opinion on that, I would be more than flattered

Views differ regarding the importance of learning history. While there can be some possible reasons why some think that it is likely to be insignificant, I believe that knowing about the past benefits us in many ways. Firstly, studying of the history might not look that important due to some factors, one of which is its overemphasis on memorization. To illustrate, at institutions this subject is usually taught by making students learn all information by heart rather than letting them realize the underlying lessons of the historical events and this makes history seem boring and mentally- exhausting subject. For example, many people know some details about Russian invasion to Central Asia, but only minority of people may realize its still-lasting effect in the countries located there. Furthermore, knowing about the history is sometimes thought as a trigger to a cultural bias as it might have been mispresented by the people who wrote it, including but not limited to, Amir Temur case; at schools of some countries, Uzbekistan, for example, he is described to have been as a great soldier with good personal traits. In western countries, people may describe him as a very cruel and overstrict governor. According to these reasons, history may be seen to hold less significance to learn. However, the assumptions of insignificancy of history pale in comparison to the merits that it offers. Critical thinking and analytical skills of individulas can be improved my learning the past as people tend to analyze past actions, events and their results as well as getting numerical info and modern science often proves that working with numbers and putting them chronological order logically, which is the often case while studying history,form that of skills. Moreover, having had historical knowledge, one may a be able to understand the world, society better and it can be beneficial for them as understanding historical events allows us to learn from past mistakes and successes, which can inform better decision-making in the present and future. Covid 19, for example, has taught us the importance of hygiene and social distancing a lot. In conclusion, although learning history may not seem very lucrative because of a huge numerical data that holds almost no significance and its mispresentations, in my opinion, it is very beneficial to know due to the skills it offers and its long-lasting effect on our future and present.
