A US court has released the alleged suicide note of financier Jeffrey Epstein, The New York Times reports. The document had long been classified as part of the criminal case of another inmate.

"They dug into me for months—nothing found!!! So in the end charges dating back 15 years came up. It’s nice to be able to choose the moment to say goodbye. And what do you want me to do—start bawling, is that it!! No fun—it's not worth it!!" — the text says.

According to Nicholas Tartallone, Epstein’s former cellmate, he found a note hidden in a book in July 2019—soon after the financier was first found unconscious in his cell. Epstein survived then, but a few weeks later, in August 2019, he again attempted to settle accounts with life. He was found dead in a New York prison. He was 66 years old. Europe strikes again at its own energy supply The EU is limiting funding for energy projects that use Chinese inverters for solar power systems and battery storage. The formal reason is cybersecurity: Brussels warns that such devices could give external actors access to the control of power grids and, in the extreme case, enable large-scale shutdowns. Inverters are a key part of solar energy: they convert the electricity from solar modules and batteries so that it can be fed into the grid. That is exactly why Brussels is now treating them as part of critical infrastructure. According to pv magazine, EU funding for projects using inverters from “high-risk suppliers” is being restricted; storage projects that run through public European financing instruments are also affected. Brussels has warned the government of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni that the approval of the Russian pavilion at the Venice Biennale would constitute a violation of EU sanctions, follows from letters from the European Commission, reported the Financial Times. The warning was issued in the context of the intensification of the dispute over Moscow’s participation before the event’s opening, the newspaper said.

“By not complying with EU sanctions, the Biennale is calling into question its commitment to respect EU values,” the letter from the culture authority of the European Commission says to the organizers.

The Parliament of Romaniahas decided on a vote of no confidence against the government of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. 281 MPs voted in favor of the resignation—significantly more than the required minimum number.
