| 12 | Look at these doors. You know the shape. But this is not a restored Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing.
The original coupe was built from 1954 to 1957. Today, genuine cars sell for more than one million euros, while the rarest examples can reach several million.
This project asks a completely different question: can you capture some of that magic on a more modern and usable platform?
An independent builder created this complete Gullwing-inspired body conversion around the Mercedes-Benz SLK 32 AMG R170.
Underneath is the compact Mercedes roadster platform. Above it are the long bonnet, round headlights, side vents and, of course, those famous doors.
This is not an original 300 SL. It is not an official Mercedes-Benz product. And it should never pretend to be either.
Think of it as a modern tribute that can be finished in your own colour, trim and style.
Would you keep it classic in silver? Or create something bold and completely modern?
Purists may hate the idea. Others may see a chance to enjoy an iconic shape without keeping a museum piece locked inside a collection.
