Some people think that sport teaches children how to compete, while others believe that children learn teamwork. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
People have differing views about the role of sports in children’s growth. While some reckon that competition in sports is one of the best ways to teach kids teamwork, others contend that this could lead to adverse effects of opposing. I believe that the benefit it offers is more justifiable due to the faster way of learning it leads. Admittedly, competing from an early age could encourage children to oppose each other, making them real opponents as a result. When kids are against each other during competitions, they hate their game opponents as the urge to win results in the ego, eventually discouraging children from being friendly. However, this behavior can also lead to infinite achievements since there are people who do not give up working on their goal until they achieve it. For instance, a child in the second place has more possibility of working harder in order to get to the first place, while the winner wastes his time with the celebration of his achievement. Nevertheless, I believe that the probability of learning teamwork from competing in sports is higher as it enables people to collaborate from a young age, making them outgoing and sociable which are the characteristics necessary for a successful future career. A team with a satisfactory leader will end up with close relationships between teammates as the leader may come up with great opportunities to work collaboratively in order to win the game. Indeed, the chance to learn teamwork is one of the key factors in every aspect of our lives if we desire to be successful. In conclusion, although some people advocate that sport encourages children to oppose each other, others, myself included, reckon that sports activities are the best manner to build teamwork.
