But it’s just not true. Colin Kaepernick was “canceled” (for lack of a better word) for kneeling during the national anthem. Jimmy Kimmel was briefly canceled (literally) for his comments on Charlie Kirk. And people are incorrectly pretending Macklemore only said “Free Palestine”. This is what he said: “So I say free Palestine, I say free Lebanon, I say free Cuba, I say free Congo, free Sudan, free all people in America living in fear of this terrorist organization, ICE. None of us will be free until we are all free.” [my emphasis] He called the government of America - or an element of it - a terrorist organization. By pretending all he said was “Free Palestine”, you are mischaracterizing the issue - I won’t impute intentions, I will just note the fact. Also, he’s got free speech. And so does the tour organizer / team who may not appreciate an opening act calling the government a “terrorist organization” in front of a stadium of spectators. Also, nobody wants to hear this divisive political rhetoric at a concert.
