Rigathi Gachagua: We are in talks with Gen Zs to develop a system that will transmit election results directly from polling stations to constituency tallying centres.
The presidential vote is the first to be counted. Voting closes at 5:00 p.m., after which election officials take 30 minutes to prepare the ballots, seal them and rest. Counting then begins at 5:30 p.m.
At the latest, the presidential vote will have been counted by 6:15 p.m. By 6:30 p.m., Gen Zs will have transmitted the results from Kenya’s 50,000 polling stations to their respective constituency tallying centres.
By around 10:00 p.m., all polling stations will have closed, and within two hours, all ballot boxes will have been delivered to the constituency tallying centres.
The first results to be tallied will be those of the presidential election.
