A Wolf Age? The third line of the following passage in Völuspá is invariably translated as 'A Wind Age, a Wolf Age', referring to the current age of strife (cognate with the Puranic Kali Yuga). 'skeggjöld, skálmöld skildir 'ru klofnir vindöld, vargöld áðr veröld steypisk' However, vargr was only one of two Old Norse words meaning 'wolf' - the other being ulfr. Vargr had the double-meaning of 'wolf' and 'outlaw/criminal', which could suggest that the prophecy's more accurate message was that we would live through an Outlaw Age, or Criminal Age, rather than a Wolf Age. As a wolf-appreciator (I have a wolf head tattooed on my neck), this makes more sense to me. There's nothing intrinsically negative about the wolf, whilst there is something undeniably criminal about modern society. Photo by Julien Riedel

The Tocharian mummies found in the Takla Makan Desert in China prove beyond doubt that the Aryans dwelt in these regions in the East. Occult Wisdom teaches of the lost land of Thule-Hyperborea in the North, and then At-al-land in the North-West, but there is yet another Aryan Civilisation that follows from the sinking of At-al-land - the lost Gobi Civilisation. The Gobi Desert, it seems, was at one time a fertile region where a great Aryan Civilisation was built, after the Aryan Manu led them out of 'Atlantis'. These Occult Legends are invariably ridiculed, until such time as the truth of them starts to arise out of the mists of time.

This interesting piece about the Need-Fire underlines the double meaning of 'need' and ' to rub together'; this also hides an esoteric meaning in the phrase 'to rub together', since it can be taken literally as the rubbing of two sticks together, Fire-by-Friction', and also the 'Heat-by-Friction' in the Creative Act. The link to Ingwe here is through the DNA passed on through this act. We find this hidden in the Agni Myth where the 'rubbing together' is done in the Cave of the Mother. Here we find the link through the IE Root *engw- meaning 'groin'.

Repost from Æhtemen
Interesting post about the need-fire above. The need-fire can be found in Germanic, Celtic and Slavic cultures. The OE name nýd-fýr meant need-fire. Whilst nýd came from nied (meaning need) the term was connected with the OE gnídan meaning ‘to rub together’, hence fire by friction. All these terms had cognates in old Swedish. The OSwed word gnida was cognate with gnídan and gave the Swedes the term gnideld, fire-by-friction. This reconstructed in old English would be *gnídfýr or *gnídál. In Irish Gaelic the need-fire was known as tein' èiginn (modern tein egin) which meant forced-fire.

The Sacred Flame of Ingwe burns in the hearts of the Woden-Born, enlightening the path through this Age of Darkness. It is the memory of an ancient past when our Folk were of the Divine Race of the Gods, born in the Image of the Gods. This Divine Race lives on within the Weras - the Solar Warriors who fight with the Gods against the Forces of Darkness and Chaos. Ingwe is invoked through the kindling of the Need-Fire - without and within.

"For in the Age of Darkness, the Light dwells within and below, waiting for the New Dawn and its New Day to bless life anew in the new cycle of a higher humanity. That is the Black Sun which shall rise again on a higher kind of man, when the New Age comes." The Epic of Arya - Abir Taha.

If the mask is that of King Raedwald of the Wuffingas (Wulfingas) then the mask would unite in the one ruler the roles of Woden (Priest-Magician) and Ingwe (Sacral King).

On the Sutton Hoo Mask (click to enlarge) the 'Dancing Warriors' are shown with spears pointing at the heel (Heil) and Sole (Sol = Sun), and also Twin-Spears behind the two warriors. These, in fact, create a X-shape (Gyfu), but together with the arms of the warriors an Ing-Rune. In the guise of Ingvi-Frea Ingwe is a Sword-God, and the warriors each hold a Sword. Stephen Pollington has shown that the mask appears to be dedicated to Woden (the garnets around the right eye) but it may also be the case that it is also linked to Ingwe (as shown here and the Boar's Heads)(.

The nosepiece of the Sutton Hoo Mask is in the shape of the Irminsul. Together with the secret given to Brian Bates on the Kundalini Serpent, this emphasises the means of awakening the Fire-Serpent - the Vital Breath. The two 'beaks' of the bird-serpent meet at the Third Eye (URNA) which is the point of communication with the Gods. But here, rather than 'Ram's Horns' we have a Sacred Boar at the ends of the wings. (The wings can also be symbolic of the lungs, again linking this to the Vital Breath). The Serpent transforming into the Eagle is the key to the Transformation of Man to God-Man (Superman). This could be seen as an Ur-Rune moving from the base of the neck to the Third Eye. (This could also be the key to the 'Serpent Brain' and the 'Berserker-Rage' or 'Wolfish Rage'.)
