Loop quantum gravity (LQG) is a theory of quantum gravity, which aims to merge quantum mechanics and general relativity, incorporating matter of the Standard Model into the framework established for the pure quantum gravity case. It is an attempt to develop a quantum theory of gravity based directly on Einstein's geometric formulation rather than the treatment of gravity as a force. As a theory LQG postulates that the structure of space and time is composed of finite loops woven into an extremely fine fabric or network. These networks of loops are called spin networks. The evolution of a spin network, or spin foam, has a scale above the order of a Planck length, approximately 10⁻³⁵ meters, and smaller scales are meaningless. Consequently, not just matter, but space itself, prefers an atomic structure.

The man who survived the explosion of two atomic bombs
On August 6 and 9, 1945, the United States detonated two nuclear bombs over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki respectively. About 90,000 people died as a result of the explosions and the radiation they subsequently caused, according to official figures. In 2009, the Japanese government reported that there was one person who had been in both cities on the days of the explosions and had survived the two atomic attacks.
On August 6, 1945, Tsutomu Yamaguchi was in Hiroshima on a business trip. Here is what he told the British press:
"As I was walking, I heard the sound of an airplane. I looked at the sky and saw a B-29 plane dropping something on its parachutes. I looked up into the sky at them, and suddenly...it was like a flash of ignited magnesium, a strong flash in the sky, and I fell." Fortunately, Yamaguchi managed to survive.

❗️The risk of the use of nuclear weapons has reached its peak since the Cold War, according to experts of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
In 2021, there was a slight reduction of nuclear arsenals. However, the institute expects that in the next decade they will be replenished.

A radio galaxy is a galaxy with giant regions of radio emission extending well beyond its visible structure. These energetic radio lobes are powered by jets from its active galactic nucleus. They have luminousities at radio wavelengths up to 10³⁹ W between 10 MHz and 100 GHz. The radio emission is due to the synchrotron process. The observed structure in radio emission is determined by the interaction between twin jets and the external medium, modified by the effects of relativistic beaming. The host galaxies are almost exclusively large elliptical galaxies. Radio-loud active galaxies can be detected at large distances, making them valuable tools for observational cosmology. Recently, much work has been done on the effects of these objects on the intergalactic medium, particularly in galaxy groups and clusters.
