Experimental Animation: Why Is It Important to Stay in Search? Invisible Friends animation studio is about to start a new academic year — a good reason to meet, watch, and talk about experimental animation. We’ll watch fresh works by the school’s curators and students. Behind every work there is a search — for an idea, a form, a tone, or a way to tell a story. We’ll talk about: • what the authors were looking for, why they were looking for it, and how they searched while creating each work; • what happens when familiar solutions don’t work; • how to understand where to go next; • whether it is possible to learn to stay in the process of searching instead of trying to find the “right” answer too quickly. It will be a conversation about the creative process, experiments, and how to learn to search.
