Chinese Shanghai Xingshu Tiansuan launched the first satellites for space computing ahead of Elon Musk
The Chinese company Shanghai Xingshu Tiansuan Space Technology (a subsidiary of Junda Shares) announced on Saturday the launch of the first batch of satellites for a space constellation, which will eventually consist of 1,000 satellites in orbit and be used for space computing, writes Reuters.
Shanghai Xingshu Tiansuan stated that the launch marks a step towards the commercial operation of China's first space computing network under the Star Pivot Plan project, announced at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference. Similar to Elon Musk's SpaceX, the Chinese company plans to deploy computing power in space. Specifically, it will be used for processing data received from spacecraft in orbit, including AI tasks and remote sensing results, instead of sending them to Earth for processing. This will accelerate information processing and reduce the load on ground infrastructure.
According to information on the Shanghai Xingshu Tiansuan website, the Tiansuan Constellation satellite group is an open platform for satellite research. The project is planned to be implemented in three stages. The first stage includes the launch of six satellites, the second stage involves launching 24 satellites, and the third stage will expand the constellation by an additional 300 satellites.
Similar projects in China are being developed by several other companies. In particular, under the project by Beijing Zhongke Tiansuan Technology and another project Three-Body Computing Constellation, led by the Zhejiang Lab research center, large-scale computing networks in orbit are planned to be created in the coming years.

| 3 | Steam Machine Sales Exceed Expectations — Up to 15,000 Units Per Week
When Valve finally launched its compact gaming computer, the Steam Machine, at the end of June, many doubted the product's success due to its high cost. However, it turns out that sales of the new product are going quite well. According to the Boiling Steam resource, the vendor sells between 12,000 and 15,000 Steam Machines per week.
This estimate is based on the Steam Machine's position in the ranking of Steam's best-selling products. Currently, the device is in second place between Counter-Strike 2 and Palworld. According to Boiling Steam, CS2 generates $19-20 million in revenue per week, while Palworld brings in $7-9 million.
From this, it can be inferred that the Steam Machine generates $10-18 million weekly. Considering that approximately 65% of consumers order the basic version of the Steam Machine priced at $1049, while the remaining 35% choose the more expensive model at $1349, the stated revenue range seems quite reasonable. This means that Valve sells between 8,700 and 15,600 Steam Machines per week, averaging between 12,000 and 15,000 units.
Given that Valve does not disclose exact sales figures for the Steam Machine, it is difficult to say how accurate Boiling Steam's calculations are. For the Steam Machine, which was criticized for being too expensive, the stated figures seem quite acceptable, as the device is selling well within the Steam community. If the sales level is maintained, Valve could sell between 600,000 and 750,000 Steam Machines in a year.
It is important to consider that the stated figures may be primarily due to increased demand at the start of sales. It is not uncommon to see a 20-30% drop in sales within a few weeks after the initial excitement of a product's market launch. Boiling Steam plans to update the sales data for the Steam Machine as the market stabilizes.

| 5 | An insider revealed the features of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 smartwatch ahead of the presentation
New information about the upcoming smart watch Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 has appeared on the Internet, published by famous insider Evan Blass (@evleaks), shared the day before, leaked photos of folding smartphones Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. The presentation of new products will take place on July 22 at the Galaxy Unpacked event.
Leaked photos from marketing materials confirm that the Galaxy Watch 9 is powered by a 3nm Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, which will replace Samsung's own Exynos W1000 chip previously used in wearable devices. The new processor was presented Qualcomm earlier this year. Based on tests conducted, it delivers a 50 percent performance boost over its predecessor Exynos and includes a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that will support advanced fitness training features locally and in real time using AI models, even when the user leaves their smartphone at home.
As for the design, the new product does not differ in appearance from its predecessors. Leaked promotional images show that the body shape and physical buttons remain the same, although four different matte color options will be offered: white, dark blue, olive green and classic black.
The leak also reveals three key features of the new product: vital sign tracking, sleep apnea monitoring, and a running coach with step-by-step instructions that tracks progress towards achieving specified goals. The smartwatch also received a Vitals panel, which marks indicators that are outside the acceptable range.
The new leak doesn't include any battery details. It was previously reported that the smart watch will receive a battery with a capacity of 325 mAh for the model with a 40 mm case and 445 mAh for the 44 mm case, which is 10 mAh more than the Watch 8.

| 9 | The White House has more power over the distribution of advanced AI models than their developers
The intervention of US authorities in the market release process of advanced AI models by companies like OpenAI and Anthropic is becoming increasingly strong, and a special structure has been created within the government to influence the situation, as reported by CNBC. This new body will approve the release of advanced American-origin AI models into wide circulation.
Previously, Anthropic adhered to the principles laid out in the Project Glasswing initiative, which involved a careful selection of companies and organizations that would first gain access to its advanced AI models. Competing OpenAI formed a similar consortium called Daybreak, and its advanced model GPT-5.6 was released into circulation after thorough coordination with the current US administration.
White House representatives explained to CNBC that the US government does not require AI developers to mandatorily coordinate such actions in this field, and all such negotiations are voluntary. Companies allegedly still determine themselves the timelines and conditions under which to release their advanced AI models to the market. Concerns about US national security should not hinder the implementation of innovations, as officials explained.
Nevertheless, last month, Anthropic and OpenAI delayed the release of their most powerful AI models precisely at the request of US authorities, as CNBC insists. Experts increasingly say that Chinese AI models with open weights are starting to pose a growing threat to US national security, and their lag has already been reduced to four months. This week, US authorities launched a new initiative called Gold Eagle, aimed at collaborating with American companies in identifying and addressing cybersecurity vulnerabilities. According to unofficial data, the release of critically important AI models by American developers will now undergo a preliminary audit by a special government body. At the very least, officials will determine which clients can be granted access to advanced AI models and which cannot. It is possible that in the future, such approval procedures will become mandatory.

| 11 | Eight out of ten employees in Samsung's contract chip manufacturing division are ready to change jobs
A strike in May and subsequent negotiations with one of the unions have led to Samsung Electronics' memory production employees soon receiving large annual bonuses that are a hundred times greater than the incentives in other company divisions. This disparity has caused justified dissatisfaction among Samsung employees, and in the contract division, eight out of ten people are already ready to change jobs.
According to Business Korea, this figure is more than twice the number of those wanting to leave the Samsung Electronics memory production division. This gap clearly indicates the dissatisfaction of Samsung's contract division employees with their pay levels. A survey of company employees was conducted from June 17 to 30 by representatives of one of the union organizations, as the source explains, with 8,297 Samsung Electronics employees participating. The results showed that 81.5% of employees in the Samsung Foundry division, responsible for contract chip manufacturing, plan to find a new job within the next two years. Moreover, 62% of respondents emphasized that their determination to do so is very high, while only 19% described it as simply "high."
Within the DS division, which deals with semiconductor products, this is the highest figure, as the average level of those wanting to find a new job reaches 49.5%. Among logical component developers, 75.4% want to leave Samsung in the next two years, and among chip developers in general, 60.6% expressed this intention. Only 32.7% of Samsung employees involved in memory production showed similar readiness. On average, the latter will be able to receive an annual bonus of more than $400,000 under the new conditions, although a significant portion will be issued in the form of company shares, which cannot be sold in full immediately. In any case, in the field of chip development and contract manufacturing, bonuses will be three times smaller. In the smartphone and home appliance production sectors, annual payments will be 100 times smaller than those of the memory production division employees.
Union representatives raised the issue of such disparities at a recent meeting with Samsung Electronics management. The results of the employee survey will be used as an argument in further negotiations on leveling pay conditions. According to union leadership, the company in its current state faces a serious risk of staff turnover.

| 13 | India launched its first private rocket into space
Indian aerospace startup Skyroot Aerospace has launched the country's first private orbital launch vehicle. This test marked a key step in India's journey to capture a more significant share of the global commercial space launch market.
The Vikram-1 launch vehicle lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, leaving behind a trail of fire and smoke and carrying payloads for several commercial customers as part of Mission Aagaman. Approximately 15 minutes after launch, the rocket successfully delivered its payload to an orbit 450 km high, making India the third country in the world to achieve orbital launches by private companies.
During this mission, Skyroot Aerospace conducted checks on the rocket's engines, onboard electronics, guidance, navigation, and control systems, and collected data to help advance towards future commercial launches. "Mission Aagaman is a great success. This is a test flight. We will conduct several more before moving on to regular commercial launches," the company stated.
Founded in 2018, Skyroot Aerospace has become part of a new generation of Indian space startups that have managed to gain support from global investors. The company became the first in the country's industry to reach a market capitalization of $1 billion.
As for Vikram-1, it is a 22-meter rocket designed to deliver payloads of up to 350 kg to low Earth orbit. Its design features three solid-fuel stages and a liquid orbital correction module equipped with a 3D-printed engine. In the current mission, several demonstration satellites from Skyroot's clients in India and other countries were placed into orbit.

| 15 | GeForce RTX 50 Super Graphics Cards Ready for Release, But Memory is the Bottleneck
According to VideoCardz, Nvidia has postponed the release of the GeForce RTX 50 Super graphics cards due to the high cost of 3-gigabyte GDDR7 memory chips. A source claims that one of the company's partners has already received the graphics processors for the new models, but Nvidia informed them of the launch delay specifically due to the expensive memory.
As noted by Tom's Hardware, this could mean that the company has already set the timeline for the RTX 50 Super series release but decided to delay the launch until memory costs decrease. Otherwise, the new graphics cards would have to be sold significantly above the recommended prices or force partners to release them with minimal or even negative profitability.
Rumors suggest that all models in the RTX 50 Super series will use 3-gigabyte GDDR7 chips instead of the current 2-gigabyte ones. This will allow for an increase in video memory capacity without expanding the memory bus or changing its width.
The family is expected to include the GeForce RTX 5080 Super, RTX 5070 Ti Super, RTX 5070 Super, and RTX 5050 9GB. The first two models are expected to have 24 GB of GDDR7 memory with a 256-bit bus, the RTX 5070 Super will have 18 GB with a 192-bit bus, and the RTX 5050 will have 9 GB. However, according to sources, 3-gigabyte GDDR7 chips are currently two to three times more expensive than their 2-gigabyte counterparts, which significantly complicates the release of such graphics cards at recommended prices.
An additional problem is Nvidia's policy change. Previously, the company supplied graphics processors to manufacturers along with memory, but at the end of last year, it shifted the purchase of GDDR7 chips to its partners. Now they have to independently acquire memory amid its shortage and high prices.
According to SK hynix's forecast, the tense situation in the memory market will persist for several more years. The company expects the most acute shortage to occur in 2027, and the imbalance between supply and demand will only disappear by the end of the decade.
It is still unknown how Nvidia plans to solve the problem. If VideoCardz's information is correct and partners have already received the graphics processors for the new models, the company is unlikely to be able to delay the RTX 50 Super launch for too long.

| 19 | Leak: Intel to Release Desktop Core Ultra 400S in Several Phases Throughout 2027
Intel's Nova Lake-S generation desktop processors will be released in several waves throughout almost all of 2027, rather than simultaneously. This schedule is derived from a leaked internal roadmap of the company, published by the website VideoCardz.
According to the published data, Intel will first release models with extended bLLC cache, followed by the K series processors and other mainstream versions, with the debut of the 52-core flagship expected only in the second half of the year. The leak also revealed for the first time the commercial name of the new family — Core Ultra 400S: along with the roadmap, the series logo was leaked online.
According to the published roadmap, in the first quarter of 2027, Intel plans to release only processors with an additional bLLC (Big Last Level Cache) chip. It is assumed that they will be primarily aimed at gaming systems and will be Intel's response to AMD Ryzen X3D processors. The first model is expected to be a 28-core processor with a configuration of eight performance cores, 16 efficient cores, and four small energy-efficient cores.
In the second quarter, the company will begin releasing the remaining members of the Core Ultra 400S family. Initially, K series models with an unlocked multiplier are expected to appear, after which Intel will gradually bring 16- and 8-core processors to the market, as well as versions with a locked multiplier. Thus, the main part of the lineup should appear during the second quarter, but not simultaneously, rather in several successive waves.
The release of the senior 52-core processor with two computing chips, considered the flagship of the Nova Lake generation, is scheduled for the period from May to September 2027, according to the roadmap. In other words, the most productive desktop solution of the new generation, aimed at the HEDT segment, may appear almost six months later than the first representatives of the family.
If the leak is confirmed, Intel will significantly change its usual strategy for launching desktop processors on the market for the first time in a long time. Instead of a simultaneous launch of the entire lineup, the company will release new models gradually, spreading their debut over almost the entire year of 2027.
According to available data, Nova Lake-S processors will feature a new LGA1954 platform, Coyote Cove performance cores, and Arctic Wolf efficient cores, support for DDR5-8000 memory, up to 24 PCI Express 5.0 lanes, integrated Xe3 Celestial architecture graphics, and a next-generation neural processor.
