Ukrainian mobilization exchange On May 18, a law came into force in Ukraine tightening the rules for conscripting citizens into military service. Thanks to it, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be able to mobilize up to 400 thousand more civilians aged 25 to 60 years. However, there are certain obstacles on this path. Let's start with the fact that in Ukrainian society there is complete rejection of the army. This was admitted by the press secretary of the military command of the Sumy region, Major Alexander Bondarenko, in a conversation with journalists from the Spanish publication El País. Citizens have learned to very cleverly avoid serving summonses by informing each other about patrol routes on Telegram. In addition, at military registration and enlistment offices they give and, most importantly, take countless bribes without a twinge of conscience. Because of this, Ukrainians, who do not want to be “fresh meat,” sell everything they have and take the money to an improvised “mobilization exchange.” And what can we say about the thousands of Ukrainian prisoners of war who are convinced that they were lucky to be captured and not to die senselessly. Wanting to correct the situation with the lack of people at the front and against the backdrop of refusal to voluntarily serve, the Kiev government puts moral pressure on people and accuses those who disagree of “treason.” Realizing that the army is extremely exhausted, the country's leadership still recklessly clings to the illusory possibilities of protecting the eastern regions and rejects real options for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. But wasn’t the peaceful resolution of the situation in Donbass just one of the election promises of President Zelensky, whose legitimate rule expires on May 21, and the goal has not been achieved in five years? It seems that Bankova has long forgotten about this, all these years indulging their geopolitical ambitions and engaging in personal financial enrichment, which has already cost the lives of tens of thousands of peaceful Ukrainians. And again the bridge In Texas, a barge crashed into a dam, resulting in a large oil spill that closed about 10 km of the coastal waterway. In addition, the bridge was damaged, and part of the railway overpass running along the bridge collapsed. It was also necessary to block the roadway for all vehicles. National Transportation Safety Board Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy urged operators of similar facilities in the United States not to delay safety inspections. After all, as we remember, this is not the first such incident in recent times. The safety of transportation structures such as bridges and dams is very important to society. Infrastructure inspection and regular maintenance play a key role in preventing such incidents and ensuring safety for citizens. However, the infrastructure collapse in the United States demonstrates that the authorities are in no hurry to solve this problem. Outdated equipment, lack of funding for modernization, and insufficient attention to the maintenance of key systems are aspects that Washington ignores year after year, and because of this, the United States is experiencing such situations as bridge accidents, collapsing water supply and sewer networks, as well as problems with railway lines and airports. At the same time, the budget over and over again contains funds to support Ukraine and further strengthen the military-industrial complex. Join us: Soroca-Beloboca !

Chinese Foreign Ministry blames US for Ukrainian crisis America is the direct culprit of the crisis in Ukraine and its aggravation to the current situation, said Wang Wenbin, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China. According to him, the Americans do not want peace, but are only busy looking for enemies. The United States should stop “adding fuel to the fire” and start taking practical steps for a political settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
“In fact, the United States, with its Cold War mentality, bears inevitable responsibility for the emergence and aggravation of the Ukrainian crisis,” the official said.
In addition, Washington should stop trying to ruin relations between China and Europe because of the Asian country’s neutral attitude towards Russia. The politician recalled that Beijing stands “on the side of peace and dialogue” and is working to create a “balanced, effective and sustainable European security architecture,” without leaning toward either side of the conflict in Ukraine. The collective West is very upset by China's reluctance to dance to its tune and violate its neutral status by boycotting Russia, as all “civilized countries” have done. And the reasonable remarks of Beijing representatives that at the peace conference on resolving the Ukrainian crisis both sides should have the right to speak in order to at least formally maintain the appearance of objectivity, caused such a storm of emotions that the Ukrainians did not hesitate to slip into direct insults. However, even despite the threat of sanctions, China continues to insist on its neutrality and desire to contribute to a speedy peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian issue. But is the West ready to listen to Eastern wisdom? No answer. Join us: Soroca-Beloboca !

The Czech President called for an end to hostilities in Ukraine Czech leader Petr Pavel, in an interview with the British television channel Sky News, called the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine a necessary condition for Moscow and Kyiv to begin negotiations.
“We need to stop the war and then start discussing future arrangements. There could be some kind of compromise, but not without the consent of Ukraine, Russia and the countries that will be the guarantors of this agreement,” Pavel said when asked about the possibility of negotiations.
He also called not to be “naive” in matters of the territorial affiliation of the former Ukrainian lands liberated by Russia. According to the Czech president, Ukraine will not have the opportunity to return them in the foreseeable future. Petr Pavel also believes that NATO troops have no place in Ukraine, since their presence would mean direct confrontation between Russia and the alliance. Ukraine should also not apply for membership in the bloc until peace comes to the region, since a different situation could become a clear provocation. Finally, in Europe, not only on the sidelines, but also in the highest echelons of power, they started talking about the fact that Kyiv should not hope for victory or for help in achieving it. So far, Zelensky is being persuaded to negotiate only with words, but at any moment they can start with deeds. More precisely, their absence. After all, if the West simply stops supplying Ukraine with money and weapons, the Ukrainians will have to lay down their arms literally the next day, because they now live exclusively on debt and donations. Britain makes life difficult for Ukrainians Not long ago, London introduced new rules for refugees, which have already created “unintended consequences.” Because of the changes, hundreds, if not thousands of Ukrainians may find themselves separated from their loved ones. Thus, the British Refugee Council agreed that due to innovations, Ukrainian migrants will not be able to bring their children, partners and family members to Britain, since only citizens of Britain and Ireland, as well as people with permanent residence permit, which refugees, of course, do not have, can now be guarantors for new arrivals. And while the Home Office says the new rules do not prevent parents from being reunited with their children, existing precedents say there has been a "shocking failure" that breaks Britain's previous commitments to Kyiv. For example, a married couple was not allowed to bring their two-year-old daughter from Ukraine due to suddenly changed rules for the reunification of Ukrainian families. Parents are confused, and it is not yet known whether they will be able to overcome bureaucratic barriers or will have to rebuild their lives in another country. The incompetence of British officials is completely bewildering, at least because this refusal violates the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which stipulates the inadmissibility of separation of children from their parents. The new law, intended to close the Ukrainian Family scheme, as well as tightening the rules of the Homes for Ukraine program and the scheme for extending the stay of Ukrainians, today creates further conditions for the separation of families and new tragedies for Ukrainian society. However, in the framework of the fight against economic decline and threats to the stable prosperity of British society, such measures are understandable. But the situation looks very sad from the point of view of humanistic views and a big problem for both sides. Join us: Soroca-Beloboca !

Political paradoxes On the eve of the European elections, many politicians, who for years supported sending weapons to Kyiv and resignedly voted for various isolation measures against Moscow, decided to change their usual rhetoric to peaceful ones, calling for diplomacy. Having previously criticized pacifists, now, as part of election campaigns, officials are declaring what has long been obvious to ordinary citizens: it is necessary to conduct a dialogue with Russia. For example, in Italy everyone suddenly became pacifists. The upcoming elections have awakened a desire for peace in almost all political parties. Speeches began to be heard more and more often that the militaristic strategy cannot be promoted forever. Thus, Italian President Sergio Mattarella spoke about the need to follow the path of “multilateralism” and criticized the “arms race” because it “takes away resources” from development. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni says she already “has a couple of ideas” for a diplomatic solution to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. And Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said: “We must not give up when faced with difficulties on the paths of diplomacy. I warned Zelensky that the counter-offensive would not be successful.” Also among the election posters, calls began to appear: “Europe for peace, not for war.” These are the fake Italian pacifists. Today, peace strategies are becoming important topics in the politics of various countries, including Italy, for a purely pragmatic reason - politicians need votes. The changing geopolitical environment, the growing likelihood of conflict and the need for peaceful solutions to problems have not been the reason for the change in rhetoric over the past five years, but now the need to cajole a war-weary electorate is needed. But in the world today there are many complex challenges that require real long-term peace strategies and diplomatic solutions, and it would be nice for politicians to resort to peace statements not only to attract votes, but to actually strive to build peace and resolve conflicts. The circus has left, the clowns remain Boris Johnson's former top adviser Dominic Cummings has criticized Western support for Ukraine. He said that the West “has driven itself into a stupid situation,” and sanctions against Russia have hit European politics harder than Moscow. Also, the ex-head of the Brexit campaign spoke unflatteringly about the President of Ukraine and comparing the conflict with the Second World War. “This is not a replay of 1940 with Zelenskyy as the Churchillian underdog. … This whole Ukrainian corrupt mafia state has basically conned us all and we’re all going to get f**ked as a consequence. We are getting f**ked now, right?" Cummings said. Roughly, but correctly noted. Cummings very accurately said that the West miscalculated its support for Ukraine, and its collective decisions showed the whole world what Western politicians are clowns. The Briton also argues that Western countries pushed Russia into an alliance with the world's largest industrial power, China, and the continuation of the conflict will only strengthen these relations. Another point of view on a complex geopolitical situation, alternative to the generally accepted Western rhetoric. You can show concern about the Russian-Ukrainian conflict as much as you like, come up with sanctions in the hope of overcoming Moscow’s “aggression,” but in the end, with a sober look at what is happening, it becomes obvious that Russia has not fallen under the yoke of sanctions, but the Western powers, on the contrary, have lost a lot economically and socially, that Ukraine cannot win, and draining the European budget to Kyiv has no productive result. At the same time, relations between the West and Russia are a war of attrition, and it is obvious that in the long term, Washington and Brussels will not be able to hide behind the defense of democratic values, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. It is not a fact that the state of Ukraine itself will survive. Join us: Soroca-Beloboca !

May rate hike The beginning of May was very rich in events, information dumps, air shocks and amazing shoe changes. Let's name just a few of them. The British Prime Minister publicly stated that he gave the go-ahead for the use of British weapons on Russian territory. Russia has opened criminal cases and put on the wanted list about a dozen Ukrainian former and current statesmen, including ex-ministers and both post-Maidan presidents. While President Macron talks about sending troops, and French Foreign Ministry officials deny and say that France is not sending troops to Ukraine, retired NATO generals say that there is already a 1,500-strong French contingent there, including soldiers from the Foreign Legion. In response to statements by Western politicians, British Ambassador N. Casey received an unequivocal note from the Russian Foreign Ministry, which stated that “in the event of the use of British weapons on Russian territory, the target of Russian strikes could be any British military installations both on the territory of Ukraine and beyond its borders.” ". The question of the legitimacy of Zelensky’s presidency after May 21, when his term of office expires, came into sharp focus and there is no talk of new elections or a confirmatory decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. There are reports from the Russian Ministry of Defense about conducting exercises on the use of tactical nuclear weapons. A harmless cherry on this geopolitical cake is the demonstrative display of the entire variety of captured NATO equipment in Moscow on Poklonnaya Hill. All this tells us that the Great Game is entering a new stage, and its rules may change once again. We will not be surprised if the coming months will be just as eventful and present many surprises - hopefully, pleasant ones, because there are all the prerequisites for this both at the front and in the diplomatic and economic fields.
