On 15 October, at Pariser Platz in Berlin, we came together to draw attention to the political prisoners of occupied Crimea and ensure that their stories are not forgotten. At the heart of the event were letters written by political prisoners. Through these personal messages, their voices reached the public beyond the walls of their confinement. Nina Masol, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in Germany, read a letter by Aziz Akhtemov. Elvis Çolpuh, President of the Assembly of Crimean Organisations in Europe (ACO), read a letter by Appaz Kurtaev. Frank Wilde, mentor to political prisoner Bohdan Ziza, read a letter by the imprisoned artist. Crimean Tatar artist and performer Aziza Eskender presented a performance dedicated to the political prisoners of Crimea, drawing public attention to their situation and the ongoing repression under Russian occupation. CRIMEA BEHIND BARS 15 October 2026 · 18:00 Pariser Platz, Berlin On 15 October, artist Aziza Eskender will present a performance dedicated to the political prisoners of Crimea. Behind the occupation of Crimea lies a reality that must not be forgotten: political persecution. Arrests. Searches. Intimidation. Imprisonment. People are prosecuted for their civic position, their words, their peaceful activities and their refusal to remain silent. Behind every case is a person. A name. A family. A life. This performance is for those who are behind bars. For those whose homes have been searched. For those who have been threatened, silenced and deprived of their freedom. We are here to speak about what is being silenced in Crimea. We are here to speak when others are forced into silence. We are here to make the voices of political prisoners heard. CRIMEA BEHIND BARS 15 October · 18:00 Pariser Platz, Berlin Join us. Stand with those behind bars.

On Ukraine’s Independence Day, thousands of people marched through the streets of Berlin in a powerful demonstration of solidarity with Ukraine. The Assembly of Crimean Organisations in Europe organised a dedicated Crimean column, bringing together Crimean Tatars, Ukrainians and friends of Crimea under the Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian flags. We marched to remind the world that Ukraine’s struggle for freedom is inseparable from the liberation of Crimea. For us, independence means not only sovereignty, but also the right to return home, to live freely on our land and to shape our own future. AZAT QIRIM! EBEDİY AZAT!

QIRIM. FUTURE What will Crimea look like after de-occupation — and what will its future mean for Ukraine? As Ukraine marks its Independence Day, we invite young people, experts and civil society representatives to an open conversation about the future of Crimea and the Ukraine we want to build. • What model of governance should Crimea have after de-occupation? • Should the Crimean Tatar people have national-territorial autonomy? • Should historical place names be restored? • What should the language policy of Crimea look like? • How can the rights of Crimea’s Indigenous people be reconciled with equality for all citizens? • What role will Crimea play in shaping a European Ukraine? These are not questions about Crimea alone. They are questions about identity, democracy, rights and the future of Ukraine. No easy answers. No predetermined conclusions. Just a conversation about the decisions that will shape tomorrow. 📍 Unity Hub Berlin 📅 August 27, 2026 🔗 Registration
