ROLES OF A QUANTITY SURVEYOR:-

Quantity surveyor calculates the cost by calculating the quantity of material required for any and every activity involved in construction. He/She is also involved:in planning and contracting related job which is mainly involved in the construction cost calculation. The role of a quantity surveyor are listed below: 1. Estimating. 2. Cost planning. 3. Preparing, negotiating and analyzing costs for tenders and contracts. 4. Procurement advice. 5. Preparing Bill of Quantities (BOQ). 6. Monitoring Budget. 7. Preparation of Payment Invoice and certification. 8. Assessment of variations 9. Dispute resolution. 10. Preparing feasibility studies. 11. Cost control. 12. Value engineering. 13. Advice on cost limits and budgets 14. Whole life cycle costing. 15. Valuation for insurance purposes. 16. Project management. 17. Advice on contractual disputes. 18. Preparation of final account. 19. Site visits, assessments, and projections for future work. 20. Analysing completed work and arranging payment to contractors. 21. Allocating upcoming work to contractors. Besides these, quantity surveyors may choose to specialize in a specific area of the construction industry and focus on areas like costing advice, property taxation, application to funding sources, maintenance of existing buildings, etc.

Hydraulics and water supply Lecture(የ ላየኛው የምድር ውሃ (surface water) ለማጣራት የምንጠቀማቸው ዘዴዎች:-

⓵ስክሪኒንግ (screening) - ይህ የመጀመረርያው የማጣራት ደረጃ ሲሆን በዚህ የማጣራት ዘዴ ውስጥ በውሃው ላይ የሚንሳፈፉ ግዙፍ አካላትን ለምሳሌ የዛፍ ጉቶ ፣ግንድ፣ ቅጠል እና ልዩ ልዩ የፕላስቲክ ተንሳፋፊ ቁሳቁሶች ወደ ዋናው የማጣሪያ ገንዳ እና ስርዓት እንዳይገቡ ያግዳል ። ⓶ማርጋት (Coagulation )፦ በዚህ የማጣራት ደረጃ ላይ ለአይን እይታ ያነሱ ጥቃቅን አካላትን (Particle size 10^-7cm የሚሆኑ) በማርጋት እና የኬሚካል ቻርጃቸውን ኒውትራላይዝ የሚያረግ ኬሚካል በመጨመር እርስ በእርሳቸው እንዲሳሳቡ ማድረግ ነው ። ለዚህ የአልሙኒየም ፖሊመሮች (Alum) እና አይረን (Fe+3) አገልግሎት ላይ ይውላሉ። እንደ የቁልቋል ተክል ያሉ የተፈጥሮ አርጊዎች (coagulants) መጠቀምም ይቻላል ⓷ጉግለት (Flocculation)፦ ይህ እርከን ፤ ማርጋት (coagulation ) ወቅት የረጉ ጥቃቅን አካላትን እርስ በእርሳቸው ቦንድ እስኪፈጥሩ እና እርስ በእርሳቸው ተጣብቀው እስኪጓግሉ ውሃው በተለያየ ፍጥነት የሚማሰልበት ነው። ይህ ዘዴ ሜካኒካል ወይም ማኑዋል በሆነ መልኩ ይተገበራል። ⓸መዝቀጥ/ማዝቀጥ (sedimentation) ፦ በፍሎኩሌሽን ወቅት የጓጎለው ጥቃቅን አካላት በዚህን የማጣራት ደረጃ እንዲዘቅጡ ይደረጋል ። ይህ ዘዴ የሚተገበረው የሚጣራው የውሃን ፍጥነት በመቀነስ ግራቪቲን ተጠቅሞ እንዲዘቅጥ ማድረግ ነው። በግራቪቲ ለማዝቀጥ የሚከብዱ እጅግ ጥቃቅን ቆሻሻዎችን በፍሎኩሌሽን ወቅት ስንጠቀማቸው የነበሩ ኬሚካሎችን በመጠቀም እንዲዘቅጡ ይደረጋል። ⓹ ማጥራት (filtration ) ፦ በዚህ የማጥራት ደረጃ ከማዝቀጥ ደረጃ ያለፉ ጥቃቅን ቆሻሻዎችን እጅግ ጥቃቅን ቀዳዳዎች ባሉት  አካል (medium ) እንዲያልፍ በማድረግ የድፍረስነቱን መጠን እጅግ መቀነስ ነው። ⓺ማከም (Disinfection) ፦ ከላይ በተጠቀሱ የማጣሪያ ሂደቶች የተጣራው ውሃ (በዋነኛነት ከተለያዩ ህይወት ከሌላቸው ጥቃቅን ቆሻሻዎች) ለህብረተሰቡ ለአገልግሎት ከመድረሱ በፊት በዚህ ሂደት (ዲስኢንፌክሽን) ማለፍ አለበት ። ምክንያቱም ውሃው ለአገልግሎት የሚቀርበው ከተለያዩ በአይን ከማይታዩ በሽታ አምጪ ተህዋስያን ነፃ መሆኑ ሲረጋገጥ ነው ። ዲስኢንፌክሽን ውሃውን በማፍላት ፣ ሚካኒካል በሆነ መልኩ ፣ ለጨረር በማጋለጥ (radiation ) እንደሁም በኬሚካል ሊከናወን ይችላል። በሃገራችን በዋነኛነት ሃሎጅኖችን (ብሮሚን ክሎሪን እና አይኦዲን ) በመጠቀም ኬሚካል በመጠቀም ውሃን እናክማለን ። ➡️ከዚህ ሁሉ የማጣራት ሂደት በኋላ የተጣራው ውሃ ይጠራቀምና ለተጠቃሚዎች ይዳረሳል። ስለ surface waterን የማጣራት ሂደቶች ጥቂት የሆነ ገለፃን እንዳደረግንላችሁ ተስፋ እናደርጋለን!

➡️increases the strength of concrete and the durability of the building. ➡️ reduces the permeability of concrete due to water evaporation. ➡️completes the cohesion and reaction of cement that continues for a period after pouring. ➡️Watering the concrete with water after pouring is very important. It must be done for a period of at least one week, twice a day, to reach 70% of its resistance in a week.
