Mayor says street harassment bylaw, carrying fines of $500, will be used to tackle hate speech. Recently, a small number of people have been gathering outside planned drag performances carrying signs and accusing performers and spectators of committing crimes of a sexual nature against children. In a series of tweets, the mayor said she was saddened and frustrated by the cancellation of a much-anticipated show because of protests “rooted in hate and fear-mongering. The bylaw carries fines of $500. It defines harassment as communicating with a person in a manner that could reasonably cause offence or humiliation in reference to a number of factors, including race, gender, sexual orientation or gender identity. Speaking at a press conference Friday afternoon, Gondek said bylaws and tickets can only go so far, and it may be time for provincial Crown prosecutors to examine the threshold for hate speech and hate crime. Some ethnies are so different genetically that if 12.5 million Bantu immigrants were to move to England (or elsewhere), the genetic loss to the remaining English would be over 3 million children.
