Tesla has begun scouting sites for a proposed $3 billion EV car plant. This decision comes after a recent decision for India to lower import tariffs on EVs which happened on 15 Mar, and has also committed to invest at least $500 million to start setting up manufacturing plants in the country. The move follows a meeting Musk had with Indian prime minister in June last year where he state that he wishes to invest in Indian "as soon as humanly possible". Setting up a factory in India could be seen as Tesla's way of competing with competitors in the region such as BYD who are posing increasingly tight competition to Tesla's EV dominance. During an operation by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), 36 people who are suspected of committing drug offences were arrested on 2 Apr 2024. It suspected that two drug traffickers were among those that were arrested. The suspects were communicating over Telegram to facilitate their drug deals and discuss pick up spots. Cambodian national Su Wenqiang, the first person to be sentenced in Singapore’s largest money laundering case, will be deported after his release from prison. The 32-year-old was sentenced to 13 months’ jail on April 2 after pleading guilty to two money laundering charges, becoming the first of 10 foreigners to be convicted over a probe that saw more than $3 billion in cash and assets seized. An announcement released from Grab on all it's platform has stated that it will suspend the use of both its physical and e-wallet card from 1 Jun. Stating that it has "much higher adoption and use of other Grab offerings (such as PayLater by Grab, GrabPay Wallet) that better cater to the needs of our users". A woman has been ordered to undergo probation for 21 months after failing to alert the police despite having reasons to believe that a man had raped her friend. As part of the sentence, the woman has to stay indoors from 11:00pm to 6:00am every day, as well as perform 100 hours of community service.
