04 Russian Warships Steam for Caribbean as Ukraine Tensions Go Global
In a show of force perhaps prompted by President Biden's authorization of Ukrainian strikes inside Russia using US weapons, a group of Russian warships is en route to the Caribbean, a senior US official has told McClatchy and the Miami Herald.
White House officials alerted members of Congress to the Russian move on Wednesday (June 5).
The deployment signals Russia's capacity to operate globally while still fully engaged its third year of war in Ukraine. “This is about Russia showing they are still capable of some level of naval power projection,” the official said. “We should expect more of this activity going forward.” In March, Ukraine claimed it had either sunk or disabled a full third of Russia's ships in the Black Sea.
CBS News reports that long-range Russian bombers will rendezvous with the ships for combined naval and air maneuvers. Such exercises are not without precedent: Russia conducted similar combined-arms Caribbean maneuvers in 2019, and had a streak of sending ships into the Western Hemisphere at least annually from 2013 to 2020. Following the summer exercises, Russia is expected to engage in a worldwide naval exercise this fall, sources tell CBS.
The Pentagon is tracking a "handful" of ships and support craft that are expected to reach Caribbean waters in the upcoming weeks. US analysts speculate that the flotilla will make port calls in both Cuba and Venezuela.

05 Israeli Strike on UN School Kills at Least 40 in Central Gaza
An Israeli strike on a UN-run school killed dozens of people in the Nuseirat refugee camp, central Gaza, on Thursday (June 6).
The school, operated by the UN's agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, was reportedly housing thousands of displaced people, most of whom were women and children.
At least 40 people were killed, including nine women and 14 children, and 74 others were wounded, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
Shortly before 2am, people sheltering in the school woke up to the sound of air strikes and saw one of the buildings on fire, witnesses told Middle East Eye.
“The whole school was sleeping. We ran out and we saw people retrieving the wounded and dead bodies from the rubble, some were torn apart, some were burnt," Ansam Issa said.
“My 17-year-old brother came running towards me, shouting that our father was dead. I asked him about out two other brothers, he said, they were killed too.”
Ansam and her family had sought the school a day earlier after heavy bombing targeted the Bureij refugee camp where they live.

In an attempt to sway global public opinion on the war in Gaza, fake accounts and sites spread pro-Israel and Islamophobic content. The operation was orchestrated by Israel's Diaspora Affairs Ministry and run by a political campaigning firm
The Israeli government is behind a large-scale influence campaign primarily aimed at Black lawmakers and young progressives in the United States and Canada. The operation, whose existence was first reported by Haaretz in March, was launched after the start of the war in Gaza and was intended to sway certain segments of public opinion on Israel's conduct.

10 OpenAI Insider Estimates 70% Chance That AI Will Destroy or Catastrophically Harm Humanity
“The world isn’t ready, and we aren’t ready.”
After former and current OpenAI employees released an open letter claiming they're being silenced against raising safety issues, one of the letter's signees made an even more terrifying prediction: that the odds AI will either destroy or catastrophically harm humankind are greater than a coin flip.
In an interview with The New York Times, former OpenAI governance researcher Daniel Kokotajlo accused the company of ignoring the monumental risks posed by artificial general intelligence (AGI) because its decision-makers are so enthralled with its possibilities.
"OpenAI is really excited about building AGI," Kokotajlo said, "and they are recklessly racing to be the first there."
Kokotajlo's spiciest claim to the newspaper, though, was that the chance AI will wreck humanity is around 70%—odds you wouldn't accept for any major life event, but that OpenAI and its ilk are barreling ahead with anyway.

14 COVID Vaccines May Have Helped Fuel Rise in Excess Deaths - The Telegraph
💉@COVID19Up: Covid vaccines could be partly to blame for the rise in excess deaths since the pandemic, scientists have suggested.
Researchers from The Netherlands analysed data from 47 Western countries and discovered there had been more than three million excess deaths since 2020, with the trend continuing despite the rollout of vaccines and containment measures.
They said the “unprecedented” figures “raised serious concerns” and called on governments to fully investigate the underlying causes, including possible vaccine harms.
Writing in the BMJ Public Health, the authors from Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, said: “Although Covid-19 vaccines were provided to guard civilians from suffering morbidity and mortality by the Covid-19 virus, suspected adverse events have been documented as well.
“Both medical professionals and citizens have reported serious injuries and deaths following vaccination to various official databases in the Western World.”
They added: “During the pandemic, it was emphasised by politicians and the media on a daily basis that every Covid-19 death mattered and every life deserved protection through containment measures and Covid-19 vaccines. In the aftermath of the pandemic, the same moral should apply.”

16 For those who don't get it yet: The loss of trust in the judicial system (and the electoral system before it) is by design.
Just as with the lack of trust in corporate media and health institutions, this is all being done by design to sow chaos before the order is installed.
Obviously, these institutions are absolutely not deserving of our trust. However, this doesn't inherently serve the cause of liberty for the masses to abandon any faith in institutions which are seen as staples of a civil, stable society.
Especially when most people are still dependent on government and/or corporations in one way or another. Even those who are awake to the chaos and violence are still not taking steps to build parallel, alternative systems. There are only so many of us doing so. Not enough.
This means that if the masses completely lose faith in these institutions (as they should) but there is nothing there to replace them or offer an alternative, there is likely to be chaos.
It is within this state of entropy which the Predator Class will present their Technocratic systems as the answer to the chaos and confusion.
And, I absolutely believe Trump is playing a role in leading the faux-resistance, The Great Inversion, the False Awakening by pacifying many right wingers who would oppose tyranny but will welcome it when Trump does it.

35 Global Outrage After Deadly Israeli Strike on Refugee Tent Camp in Rafah
There have been widespread reports of a civilian massacre following a Sunday (May 26) Israeli air strike on a camp for displaced Palestinians in the besieged southern city of Rafah, which the Gaza Health Ministry says killed 45 people, including women and children.
Israel says it is investigating the strike, amid widespread international condemnation and as horrific videos of the attack aftermath circulate widely, with Israel’s top military prosecutor calling the attack "very grave."
Major-General Yifat Tomer Yerushalmi said in a briefing the Israeli army "regrets any harm to non-combatants during the war" and that "The details of the incident are still under an investigation, which we are committed to conducting to the fullest extent."

Russian Warships Steam for Caribbean as Ukraine Tensions Go Global
In a show of force perhaps prompted by President Biden's authorization of Ukrainian strikes inside Russia using US weapons, a group of Russian warships is en route to the Caribbean, a senior US official has told McClatchy and the Miami Herald.
White House officials alerted members of Congress to the Russian move on Wednesday (June 5).
The deployment signals Russia's capacity to operate globally while still fully engaged its third year of war in Ukraine. “This is about Russia showing they are still capable of some level of naval power projection,” the official said. “We should expect more of this activity going forward.” In March, Ukraine claimed it had either sunk or disabled a full third of Russia's ships in the Black Sea.
CBS News reports that long-range Russian bombers will rendezvous with the ships for combined naval and air maneuvers. Such exercises are not without precedent: Russia conducted similar combined-arms Caribbean maneuvers in 2019, and had a streak of sending ships into the Western Hemisphere at least annually from 2013 to 2020. Following the summer exercises, Russia is expected to engage in a worldwide naval exercise this fall, sources tell CBS.
The Pentagon is tracking a "handful" of ships and support craft that are expected to reach Caribbean waters in the upcoming weeks. US analysts speculate that the flotilla will make port calls in both Cuba and Venezuela.

Israeli Strike on UN School Kills at Least 40 in Central Gaza
An Israeli strike on a UN-run school killed dozens of people in the Nuseirat refugee camp, central Gaza, on Thursday (June 6).
The school, operated by the UN's agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, was reportedly housing thousands of displaced people, most of whom were women and children.
At least 40 people were killed, including nine women and 14 children, and 74 others were wounded, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
Shortly before 2am, people sheltering in the school woke up to the sound of air strikes and saw one of the buildings on fire, witnesses told Middle East Eye.
“The whole school was sleeping. We ran out and we saw people retrieving the wounded and dead bodies from the rubble, some were torn apart, some were burnt," Ansam Issa said.
“My 17-year-old brother came running towards me, shouting that our father was dead. I asked him about out two other brothers, he said, they were killed too.”
Ansam and her family had sought the school a day earlier after heavy bombing targeted the Bureij refugee camp where they live.

The Israeli government is behind a large-scale influence campaign primarily aimed at Black lawmakers and young progressives in the United States and Canada. The operation, whose existence was first reported by Haaretz in March, was launched after the start of the war in Gaza and was intended to sway certain segments of public opinion on Israel's conduct.

“The world isn’t ready, and we aren’t ready.”
After former and current OpenAI employees released an open letter claiming they're being silenced against raising safety issues, one of the letter's signees made an even more terrifying prediction: that the odds AI will either destroy or catastrophically harm humankind are greater than a coin flip.
In an interview with The New York Times, former OpenAI governance researcher Daniel Kokotajlo accused the company of ignoring the monumental risks posed by artificial general intelligence (AGI) because its decision-makers are so enthralled with its possibilities.
"OpenAI is really excited about building AGI," Kokotajlo said, "and they are recklessly racing to be the first there."
Kokotajlo's spiciest claim to the newspaper, though, was that the chance AI will wreck humanity is around 70%—odds you wouldn't accept for any major life event, but that OpenAI and its ilk are barreling ahead with anyway.
