Today, the Polish Parliament voted by an overwhelming majority to extend the regulation allowing the suspension of the right to asylum for a further 60 days. We are not going to write down for you who among the MPs voted against this proposal. If anyone is interested, they will certainly find such information. We would rather remind you that the way of thinking imposed on us by this and the previous government, a way of thinking that dehumanises yet another social groups, is already the norm in the Polish parliament and media. Politicians talk about sentencing innocent people to death without blinking an eye, with the obligatory smile glued to their faces. Increasingly, this is also beginning to be absorbed by the streets, which are being told that it is the man next door who is to blame for their injustice and not those who rule us through state and economic terror. Today, people on the move and those who saved their lives are being publicly lynched. Tomorrow you will learn that our safety is threatened by strikes at the National Post, nurses, then trade unions in general; women fighting for the right to abortion; sexual minorities; the tenant movement and environmentalists. It's going to get worse and worse and they will have to find more people to blame, and you're going to be one of those groups. It is worth keeping this in the back of your mind and remembering that the only effective weapon against systemic violence is grassroots organising. Nor would it hurt to be immune to the progadanda that has already hijacked many people with the current presidential elections in Poland. In solidarity with people on the move!
