I purify my soul in solitude. In solitude, we learn, almost joyfully, to accept the death of our humanity, the gravity of existence, the immense depth of realities-the exultant bath of the soul in the tears of salvation.

Nudity in art is the very essence of aesthetic sensuality; it has little in common with sexuality or the appetite of the flesh. Rather, it belongs to that higher realm in which the senses, liberated from their vulgar purposes, become instruments of wonder. The naked human form confronts us with the solemn astonishment of our first encounter with death -with the mortality of that human portion which we so vainly endeavour to conceal beneath the garments of civilisation, the corporeal becomes almost spiritual in its purity.
