Adolf, The Merciful “All of Hitler’s hopes for a European peace, in fact, were based on the prospect of achieving a firm and durable accord with Great Britain, and he made this objective the pivot of his entire foreign policy. Although, to the monumental misfortune of Aryan men everywhere, he never succeeded in achieving this much-sought-after rapprochement, Adolf Hitler never ceased trying, even after the hostilities of World War II had commenced. His categorical refusal, over the advice of his generals, to order his panzer forces to annihilate the British army at Dunkirk in 1940 can only be interpreted as a mighty, final bid, against all odds, for conciliation with his racial kinsmen across the Channel — the culmination of the most sincere and persistent efforts ever made by any world statesman to lay the foundations of lasting Aryan solidarity and friendship.” — from Adolf Hitler: German Nationalist or Aryan Racialist (1974, p. 19) by Matt Koehl

Adolf Hitler’s Thoughts on Recurring Ice Ages (4 of 4) — from Hitler — Memoirs of a Confidant (first written in 1946) by Otto Wagener [Yale University Press Edition, 1985, edited by Henry Ashby, Jr., translated by Ruth Kein, pgs. 79 - 80] Note: These may not have been Hitler’s final thoughts on the matter, as it was known that he liked to play “point, counter-point” with ideas, and brainstorm out loud. And, Hitler wasn’t a trained astronomer, and may have not been taking into account the wobble of the earth’s axis known as the Precession of the Equinoxes. However, Der Führer shows incredible and tremendous erudition in a subject that was not his speciality!

Adolf Hitler’s Thoughts on Recurring Ice Ages (3 of 4) “Just as in its course around the sun, the earth goes through summer and winter because of the elliptical form of its orbit and tilt of its axis, why should not the sun and its planets in their course around point X travel through warmer and colder regions? Here, too, I am of the opinion that it is more natural to postulate this as probable than to assume that the conditions of temperature and light are uniform throughout the universe. Or can anyone suppose that, for example, the mist of Orion does not send out its own heat — which exceeds the heat of the sun a hundred and a thousand-fold — into the farthest reaches, so that it must be warmer in that section of the universe than, for example, where we are now?”

Adolf Hitler’s Thoughts on Recurring Ice Ages (2 of 4) “A geology professor, whom I asked to talk to me last year about the current state of geological study on the composition of the earth’s crust, said that it was now possible to document seven ice ages, and that we must count on their periodic recurrence. This assumption makes sense to me. For everything in the world is subject to periodic change.”

#ScienceSaturday No. 32 (Early Friday Edition) Adolf Hitler’s Thoughts on Recurring Ice Ages (1 of 4) Pointing to the map, Hitler presented something along these lines. “We cannot know how many thousands of years have passed since our world looked like this [referring to last Ice Age]. But we do know one thing: that before this [last] ice age the warm and temperate zones were situated considerably farther north, perhaps like the present situation. And that, in turn, there was a still earlier ice age, and probably several, many.”

#ScienceSaturday No. 31 (Early Friday Edition) First Light In astronomy, first light is the first use of a telescope to take an astronomical image after it has been constructed. First light is always a moment of great excitement, both for the people who design and build the telescope and for the astronomical community, who may have anticipated the moment for many years while the telescope was under construction. NASA, in partnership with ESA (European Space Agency) and CSA (Canadian Space Agency), will release the James Webb Space Telescope’s first full-color images and spectroscopic data during a televised broadcast on Tuesday, July 12, from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. https://www.nasa.gov/webbfirstimages

“Then the radio is switched on, and all listen to a program entitled ‘Young Germany’s Hour’...and is broadcast by all stations. On some other week-day evening the youngsters gather a second time for a program devoted to games and sports. It is interesting to note that there is no military drill, or use of arms in these physical exercises... The National Socialists believe that imposing military training at this early age would be a psychological mistake.” — from Into the Darkness: Nazi Germany Today (1940) by Lothrop Stoddard [First Edition, p. 150]
