5 A tussle ensued. We found ourselves wrestling on the ground. “We both know Santa is white!” I exclaimed as I pulled the fake white beard from his face. “Lord, help me! George Floyd...George Floyd,” was all he could muster as my hands clenched around his throat! Some in the crowd cheered, and some jeered. Many young girls in the crowd passed out from the drama. But one young girl shouted out “Look mommy, black Santa is getting beat up by White Santa!” And she stepped forward with her Roman Salute, and shouted out “Hail White Santa!”

4 My amorous fantasies are rudely interrupted by a tone-deaf singing voice outside. I step out to find a pot-bellied black man with a raspy voice singing in a Santa costume. He’s collecting for the Salvation Army, and his horrible rendition of “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby rattles my last nerve! I confront the charlatan with my cane, “You are guilty of cultural appropriation!” The people in the crowd began nodding to one another in agreement, and approval of what I said. “Man, I’m tired of you harassing me,” he said. “I’m just doing my duty to my people.” “SO AM I,” I shouted, and I lunged at the imposter!

3 Then I look down at my big belly, and run my fingers through my long white beard. “I could have made a great Santa,” as I think of unrequited dreams. But my thoughts are pleasantly shaken as I see my favorite customer hobble in. “Well, hello there Sandy,” I say greeting her nervously. “Hi Ed!” she says. “Can you get me a handicapped stroller?” After faltering a moment I say “Why sure,” and then I clumsily get her stroller. I want to ask her out, but at 66 years old she’s 20 years younger than me! But as she hovers away she smiles at me, and I think to myself as I nod my head in manly approval, “Someday I’m gonna marry that girl.”

2 But then as a group of black youths in “urban” attire walk into the store I sternly stop them in their tracks. “Oh, come on. You do this to us all the time,” one of them whines. I point my cane directly at them. “Say the words!” I command. “in order to pass.” They mope for a bit, and then raise their hands, and say in unison “Hands up, don’t loot.” I reluctantly nod in agreement, but as they make their way into the store my voice follows them. “Just remember we’re watching you.”
