| 4 |  8-year-old girl was in her backyard in Alpena Michigan when a man came out of the woods behind her, put a hand over her mouth, and pulled her towards the tree line.
Her 13-year-old brother, Owen Burns, heard her scream from inside the house.
He looked out the window, saw what was happening, grabbed his slingshot, and fired twice, first a marble, then a rock, hitting the illegal alien in the head and chest.
The man let go and ran. Owen's sister broke free and got back inside.
Troopers later found the suspect, a illegal alien from hiding at a gas station with injuries that matched the slingshot strikes, evidence police said helped confirm his identity.
He was charged as an adult with kidnapping and child enticement, assault and battery, and told detectives he had planned to rape and beat the girl.
Michigan State Police called Owen's response extraordinary. Owen, for his part, said he'd do it again without hesitation.
