💊Oral vancomycin is not absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract, which means it stays within the bowel & does not reach significant levels in the blood. 🚨This property makes it ineffective for systemic infections but ideal for treating C. difficile colitis, where high concentrations in the colon are needed to eradicate the pathogen locally without systemic side effects. ✅Vancomycin’s lack of oral absorption is an advantage for C. difficile colitis because it targets the infection directly in the gut.
