Dear MIM Family, We are honored to invite you join us on a 4-days course with Emilio Alzueta (Mehmet Emin Efendi), that offers a profound exploration into the concept of beauty within the Islamic tradition where participants will delve into transmitted sciences (al-‘ulûm al-’naqliyya) and intellectual sciences (al-‘ulûm al-‘aqliyya), while also gaining insights into the historical trajectory of modernity and its impact on universals such as truth, organism, goodness, and beauty. Day 1 | July 4th, 2024 Participants will begin by examining conceptions of beauty in Islamic tradition compared to modernity, drawing parallels with Kant's third critique. Discussions will focus on al-Jamâl and al-Husn, the ontological reality of beauty, and its manifestations in divine attributes and the Qur’an. Special attention will be given to Sura al-Rahmân and the Prophet Muhammad as embodiments of beauty within Islamic teachings.
