We aim to raise critical awareness about environmental damage and the challenges of multispecies survival. Through sound, we explore the work of art, the power of love and rage, the science of wonder and play. Listen to natural and social scientists, historians, artists, writers, and theorists speak about working with organisms and landscapes that are on the one hand, rapidly being transformed by industrialization and extraction, and on the other, relentlessly adapting to novel socialities. https://multispeciesworldbuilding.com/

Putin claims that Russia is invading Ukraine to enact "demilitarization," to "protect civilians." This is a lie: the opposite is true. If you stand with Russia in the name of "anti-imperialism"—you are supporting an imperialist war. The blood of countless people will be on your hands. Our hearts go out to everyone who will suffer in this senseless, needless escalation of global conflict. In this photograph, a Russian anarchist stands in Moscow, holding a sign reading "No troops to Donbas." The demonstrator was arrested afterwards.

Biodiversity appreciation post of the day: the water deer! No antlers and a pair of tusks, but yes, it's a cervid. They're native to China and Korea, and called gorani in Korean (고라니). As for the origin of their English name, just like most animals who... drink, they like hanging out around rivers and swamps, so English-speakers decided to miss the opportunity to call them vampire deers and opted for water deers. I hope your disappoinment is as incommensurable as mine.
