#ChangeYourMindset 🧐Have you ever tried to run a complex program on your phone when it's about to die? This is how your brain functions when you put it under too much pressure during the IELTS test. If you're having difficulty passing the IELTS test, it may be due to the excessive ‘cognitive load’ on your brain. There's a limit to the amount of information our brains can handle. Think of your brain as a battery. The more complicated tasks we give it, the harder it has to work, and the faster it drains our battery. 📆 Preparation Here’s some advice on how to make your preparation more manageable: - Your brain cannot learn too many things quickly, so avoid strategies that cram as many different things into your brain as possible, such as learning long lists of vocabulary. - In the writing test, follow one simple method and structure you don't even have to think about. For example, use the PEE (Point, Explanation, Example) method to organize your writing. Use the simplest ideas that clearly answer the question and are easy to write about. Don't use complex grammar and vocabulary you don't understand. - Take breaks and practice relaxation techniques during your preparation to reduce stress and improve your focus. For example, try taking a walk outside. 🧑🏻‍💻 On Test Day - In the speaking test, answer each question as you would in a normal conversation. Don't try to use as many complex ideas, vocabulary, and grammar as possible. - In the writing test, use the PEE method to organize your writing and focus on expressing your ideas clearly and effectively. Don't worry about using complex grammar and vocabulary that you don't understand. - During the reading test, allocate time-based on the task's difficulty.
