The developers of Pokemon Go helped create technologies for military drones based on 30 billion scans of terrain obtained from players - media reports. As you may recall, in Pokemon Go, you need to go outside and use GPS and your phone's camera to search for Pokemon in the real world. Players photographed buildings, streets and other objects, earning bonuses for doing so. Over the years, several tens of billions of such scans have been collected. These data were used to create a huge 3D map of the world. Such a system allows devices to determine their location based on the camera image, even in the absence of geolocation. Then, an American military company signed a contract to use this system in its combat drones and robots, ensuring that the drones would always have accurate navigation by orienting themselves based on the surrounding terrain in conditions of communication disruption. The developers deny everything, but experts are confident that without the "help" of millions of players , it would have been practically impossible to create such a large-scale technology.
