From Darkness to light | Reflection on the Ayahs of Qur'an 💛✨ 📖 Ayah (Aal-e-Imran 3:134) Arabic: ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ فِي ٱلسَّرَّآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ وَٱلۡكَٰظِمِينَ ٱلۡغَيۡظَ وَٱلۡعَافِينَ عَنِ ٱلنَّاسِۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ English (Sahih International): “Those who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people — and Allah loves the doers of good.” 🌿 Reflection Points 1. True generosity is consistent, not seasonal: Allah praises those who give both in times of comfort and in times of struggle — meaning charity is a character, not a convenience. 2. Lessons from Surah Al-Kahf Allah ﷻ mentions four groups of people in this Surah, and each story carries a powerful lesson. This Surah was revealed when the Muslims were going through extremely tough and painful times, just a few years before the Hijrah. Through these stories, Allah comforted the believers and taught them how to remain firm in trials. 1. The People of the Cave — Patience in Trials Allah tells the story of the Ashab al-Kahf (People of the Cave) to show that the believers facing hardship were not the first ones to suffer because of their faith. Many people before them were tested for holding on to the truth, but Allah protected them in miraculous ways. Just like He kept the People of the Cave safe inside a mountain, He is fully able to protect the believers today in ways beyond imagination. Lesson: If you stand for Allah, He will stand for you. Trials come, but Allah’s protection is greater than any fear. 2. The Man with the Two Gardens — The Danger of Arrogance Then Allah mentions a man who was extremely proud of his gardens and wealth. This story mirrors the attitude of the Quraysh, who were boastful about their worldly blessings. They believed their wealth was permanent, earned entirely by their own effort, and that nothing could take it away. But Allah showed that every worldly blessing is temporary, and arrogance can destroy everything a person has in a single moment. Lesson: Every blessing is from Allah. Wealth is fragile; humility keeps it safe. 3. Musa (عليه السلام) and Khidr — Trusting Allah’s Wisdom Through the story of Musa and Khidr, Allah teaches that human beings cannot grasp the deeper wisdom behind Allah’s decisions. Every event carries hidden good, even if it looks painful on the surface. Whether Allah removes wealth, takes a child, tests someone with illness, or brings unexpected hardships—each situation holds a deeper mercy that we may not understand immediately. Lesson: Allah’s plan is always full of wisdom. What hurts today may be protecting your heart or raising your rank tomorrow. 4. Dhul-Qarnayn — Humility in Power Lastly, Allah mentions Dhul-Qarnayn, a king so powerful that he conquered vast regions of the world. Yet, despite his unimaginable strength and success, he never claimed credit for himself. He repeatedly said, “This is a mercy from my Lord.” He stayed humble, grateful, and conscious that every ability came from Allah alone. Lesson: If a king who ruled nations remained humble, then what right does anyone have to be arrogant over small achievements?
