The wind blew hard, and the waves crashed into the boat. The disciples were afraid, but Jesus was asleep. When they woke Him, He spoke to the storm and said, “Peace, be still!” Immediately, the wind stopped, and the sea became calm (Mark 4:37–39).   Jesus showed us how to respond to challenges—with faith, not fear. You don’t need to do things just to be seen or praised by others. Instead, do everything to honour the Lord.   In the Bible, the prophet Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18). They called on their false god, but nothing happened. When Elijah prayed, he said, “...let it be known this day that you are God in Israel and I am your servant…” (1 Kings 18:36). Then God answered him with fire! Elijah did it to honour God.   So, when you sing, help at home, or do well in school, do it for God’s glory. Without help, you might feel lost. God’s Word guides your life in the same way. It shows you the right choices to make, and keeps you on the right path.   Jesus said, “…I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness…” (John 8:12). You follow Jesus by obeying and doing His Word. When you study and meditate on God’s Word, it helps you understand His plan for your life.   So, keep God’s Word in your heart, and speak it often. Grace is God’s help, kindness, favour, and blessing at work in the life of a Christian. And guess what? The moment you were born again, you received grace from Him (John 1:16). That means you’re full of grace, too!   If you need more grace, simply ask the Lord. “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). So, you don’t have to struggle anymore. There’s grace to excel in school, at home, and among your friends.   So, speak confidently every day: “I am full of grace! God’s favour is working in me.” Walk with this mindset, knowing God’s abundant grace is with you everywhere you go! The Bible says, “…thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57). This means you’re not a loser—defeat isn’t for you. God has already given you the victory.   So, no matter what happens at school or anywhere else, remember that the One in you is greater than the one who is in the world (1 John 4:4).   Think about David. He won his battles because he trusted in God (1 Samuel 17:45–47). But you have something even greater—the Holy Spirit lives in you!   So, keep thinking about this truth. Noah built an altar after the flood (Genesis 8:20). Jacob also built an altar at Bethel to worship God (Genesis 35:3). In those days, the altar was the special place where they met with God.   But today, things are different. The moment you received Jesus into your heart, you became God’s temple. The Bible says, “...you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you” (1 Corinthians 3:16). That means God lives in you!   You don’t need a special place to talk to God. You can pray in your room, sing in the car, or thank Him at school. Light doesn’t argue with darkness—it simply shines. This means when you’re kind, loving, and truthful, you bring God’s light to others.   Your light shines through your words and actions. When you help someone, tell the truth, forgive, or talk about Jesus, you’re shining.   The Bible says a city set on a hill cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:14). So, always let your light shine.   The Bible also says, “Arise, shine; for thy light is come” (Isaiah 60:1). This means you can be honest, kind, and hardworking, even when no one is watching.   When you choose to do what is right, you make the Lord happy. His Spirit in you helps you live the right way every day.   The Bible says that when you know what is right, you should do it (James 4:17). This means you don’t have to wait for everything around you to be perfect before you’re happy.   You can be joyful every day because God loves you and takes care of you.   In John 10:10, Jesus said He came so we could have life in abundance. That means a full and joyful life. The Bible also says God has given us everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). Glory to God!   Spend time learning God’s Word. It should be your way of life as a child of God. The Lord wants you to thank Him every day, not only when something special happens.   A thankful heart is always joyful and ready to receive more from the Lord.   Jesus lived this way. Before raising Lazarus from the dead, He first gave thanks to God (John 11:41). When He fed five thousand people with five loaves and two fishes, He also gave thanks before the miracle happened (John 6:11). Jesus showed us that thanksgiving comes before great results.   So learn to always thank the Lord.
