🔰 WHAT IS BIP-110?
BIP-110 (Reduced Data Temporary Softfork) is a proposal to limit how much "extra data" can be stored inside Bitcoin transactions, for 1 year.
Target: Ordinals, Runes, Inscriptions, protocols that store images, tokens & NFT-like data directly on Bitcoin's blockchain since 2022.
Supporters call this data SPAM.
Critics call blocking it CENSORSHIP.
That's the entire war in one line.
🔰 WHAT WOULD IT ACTUALLY DO?
▪️ Transaction outputs capped at 34 bytes
▪️ OP_RETURN (Bitcoin's "note field") capped at 83 bytes
▪️ Data pushes limited to 256 bytes
▪️ Certain Taproot script functions restricted
▪️ Duration: 1 year, then auto-expires
Simple translation: Storing images & tokens on Bitcoin becomes very difficult and expensive.
🔰 WHY DID THIS FIGHT START?
Oct 2025: Bitcoin Core v30 REMOVED the old OP_RETURN data limit.
The "Bitcoin = money only" camp saw this as an open invitation for spam. Their answer? BIP-110 - running on Bitcoin Knots software (an alternative to Bitcoin Core).
This is the same 12-year-old debate returning: Is Bitcoin only money, or an open data layer?
🔰 WHO'S ON WHICH SIDE?
SUPPORTERS:
▪️ Luke Dashjr (Bitcoin Knots developer, Ocean pool CTO)
▪️ Authored under pseudonym "Dathon Ohm"
▪️ Argument: Spam bloats the chain, raises node costs, hurts decentralization
OPPONENTS:
▪️ Michael Saylor: "BIP-110 turns a spam dispute into a consensus change... That precedent is the danger."

▪️ Not a single major mining pool has signaled support
▪️ Node support: disputed, 8-23% depending on how you count, with Sybil-inflation accusations

🔰 3 POSSIBLE SCENARIOS
1️⃣ Quiet Failure (Most Likely):
Miners ignore it. BIP-110 nodes fork themselves onto a tiny minority chain. Main Bitcoin chain unaffected. Brief noise, then over.
2️⃣ Minority Chain Split:
Knots nodes enforce the rules anyway → small competing chain appears. Expect short-term FUD headlines + volatility. Fundamentals unchanged.
3️⃣ Sudden Miner Support (Very Unlikely):
A major pool flips → real activation risk → serious market event. Probability: extremely low, but worth monitoring.
🔰 WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU
✔️ Your $BTC is SAFE - existing coins are exempt from all new rules
✔️ Ordinals & Runes are NOT dying - devs already built workarounds that bypass BIP-110 limits

Over the last 48 hours, a wallet originally funded by the LAB team deposited 18.4M LAB (~$18.3M) to Aster and started selling on DEXs.
As a result, LAB dropped another 54%, from $1.20 to $0.50
Here’s the full timeline:
1️⃣ April 2026
🔹 A wallet received 196M+ LAB directly from the LAB team.
2️⃣ April 8
🔹 The wallet transferred 100M LAB to two Bitget deposit addresses:

3️⃣ April 23–25
Another 96M LAB was sent to two more Bitget deposit addresses:

Around 100M LAB was withdrawn from Bitget and split across 10 wallets.

➤ The funds then remained inactive for nearly two months.
5️⃣ July 10–11
➤ The wallets became active again.
➤ 18.4M LAB was transferred to three Aster deposit addresses and sold on DEXs.
➤ The entity still holds another 81.5M LAB.

What happened:
The US DOJ is moving to dismiss charges against Matthew Goettsche, alleged mastermind of the 722 million dollar BitClub Network Ponzi scheme.
Key nuance:
Not dropped yet. Per Bloomberg Law, the case is set to be dismissed with prejudice, but final terms are still being finalised before the court is notified. With prejudice means charges cannot be refiled.
Background:
Indicted in 2019 for wire fraud and selling unregistered securities. Filings show he called investors dumb and sheep. Three co-defendants already pleaded guilty.
Fits the wider US crypto enforcement pullback. DOJ says it is still trying to recover part of investor losses.
Mining products promising fixed returns are a classic Ponzi setup. Verify hardware, verify payouts, avoid recruitment based income.
