Individualistic Mindset vs Collective Mindset In today’s world, many of us have adopted an individualistic mindset in Islām, prioritizing and giving full focus to personal goals and individual achievements above collective work for the Ummah. It’s essential to reflect on how the companions of the Prophet ﷺ [Sahābah] lived and how they worked as a Jamā'ah [group] to enjoin good & forbid evil and not just spend majority of their time at home like many of us today. The Sahābah were far from an individualistic mindset; their lives were marked by a profound sense of collective responsibility and unity, exemplified by their willingness to fight in Jihād for the sake of Allāh and supporting the Ummah. Collective mindset: The Qur’ān and Sunnah provides clear guidance on the importance of collective work as a Jamā'ah. 1 - The Ummah: The concept of the Ummah, the global community of Muslims, is central in Islām. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emphasized the importance of collective work, unity and brotherhood: “Verily, the believers are like bricks of a building, each part strengthening the other...Sahīh Bukhārī [no. 481]. 2 - Congregational Worship: Certain acts of worship emphasise collective worship. The five daily prayers are encouraged to be performed in congregation, Zakāh [obligatory charity] is designed to redistribute wealth within the Muslim community, ensuring that the needs of the less fortunate are met, fasting of Ramadān is done together and so is the Hajj. 3 - Supporting the Ummah: The Muslims of the past were always supporting either through their wealth or lives for the religion. The way parts of the Ummah are abandoned today was something unheard of in the past. The Sahābah were always from the forerunners [Sābiqūn] in protecting the blood of the Muslims collectively. The Sahābah's participation collectively in struggling for the sake of Allāh [Jihād] was not for personal gain or glory, but to protect the Muslim community and spread the message of Islām. They understood that their struggles and sacrifices were for the collective good of the Ummah. Their bravery and willingness to risk their lives in battles were driven by a deep sense of duty to Allāh. They implemented the verse: "And fight against the disbelievers collectively as they fight against you collectively." Sūrah Tawbah [9]: 36. Lets get out of our comfort zone and work for the religion. Join local efforts to revive Islām in the hearts of our youth who are leaders of tomorrow. Abū Ismā’īl Read, Contemplate & Share 📚 https://t.me/abuismailnotes

Benefits of Learning Martial Arts for A Muslim Martial Arts like Wrestling for example offers numerous benefits that align with Islamic principles and teachings: 1 - Physical Strength and Fitness: The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "A strong believer is better and more beloved to Allāh than a weak believer, while there is good in both..." Sahīh Muslim [no. 2664]. The narration refers to both physical and spirutal strength. Wrestling helps build strength, endurance, and overall physical fitness, making a Muslim more capable and resilient. 2 - Self-Defense: Martial Arts equips individuals with self-defense skills, allowing them to protect themselves and others in times of need. This is in line with the Islamic duty to defend oneself and our Muslim brothers and sisters. 3 - Strengthen the next generation: We learn the important role the parents play having their children train in a self-defense from the following narration: Al-Hasan and Al-Hussain were wrestling in front of the Prophet ﷺ one day and he was chanting, “come on let’s go Hasan.” Then Fatimah asked the Prophet ﷺ why aren’t you cheering for Hussain. He replied, “Jibrīl is cheering for Hussain to win.” See in Al-Musannaf of Ibn Abī Shaybah [7/514] 4 - Discipline and Perseverance: The rigorous training in wrestling for example fosters discipline, patience, and perseverance. These virtues are highly valued in Islām and help a Muslim in all aspects of life, including their spiritual journey. 5 - Building Brotherhood: Engaging in Martial Arts promotes a sense of brotherhood among the brothers. It builds strong bonds and mutual respect, reflecting the Islamic value of unity and cooperation within the Ummah. 6 - Following the Sunnah: The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his companions engaged in wrestling. Participating in wrestling today can be seen as following their example. Note: Important point to remember that all the forms of Martial Arts we do must be in accordance to the guidelines of Islām. Glad Tidings to Our Fathers & Mothers in Gaza and Around the World We are witnessing today the steadfastness of our fathers and mothers when a child dies in Gaza, Shām and around the world. Glad tidings are waiting for them for their patience on the day of resurrection. The enemies of this religion cannot defeat a nation that love death in the cause of Allāh the way they love life. Let us find comfort in the following two narrations: 1 - Abu Hassān said: I said to Abu Hurairah: Two of my sons have died. Can you narrate to me any narration from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ which will console us for our loss? He said: Yes: “Their little ones are the little ones of Paradise. When one of them meets his father – or his parents – he takes hold of his garment – or his hand – as I am taking told of the hem of your garment, and he does not let go until Allāh admits him and his father to Paradise.” Sahīh Muslim [no. 2635].  2 - The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, “When a person’s child dies, Allāh says to His angels, ‘You have taken the child of My slave.’ They say, ‘Yes.’ He says, ‘You have taken the apple of his eye.’ They say, ‘Yes.’ He says, ‘What did My slave say?’ They say, ‘He praised you and said: “Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rāji’ūn [Verily to Allāh we belong and unto Him is our return].’ Allāh says, ‘Build for My slave a house in Paradise and call it the house of praise.’” Sunan At-Tirmidhī [no. 942]. Action Plan: - In this difficult moment we should try our best to remain patient and wait for the great reward from Allāh. The patient are the successful ones. - Know that every child is returning to their Creator and He will unite the family on the day of resurrection. - Look forward to meeting the child in the hereafter and in Jannah for a life of peace and happiness for eternity. - Remind your heart this life is just a test, one day of laughter and the next of tears. - Don’t forget the Ummah in your supplications. Would They Even Recognise Us Today? Mu’awiyah Bin Murrah said: “I lived during the time of seventy of the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ and had they lived among you today, they would not recognize any of your acts except the Adhān [the call to Prayer]!” See Hilyat al-Awliyaa [2/299] We must return to the way the companions followed the Prophet ﷺ : Imām Ibn al-Qayyim mentions that those who follow the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ : “Carry out [the Prophet’s message] by [spreading] knowledge, [performing good] actions, guiding and advising people, being patient, and striving [for His sake]. These are the truly faithful ones [Siddīqūn] - they are the best of the Prophet’s followers and their leader and Imām is Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq [may Allāh be pleased with him].” Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya on Knowledge [p. 73] - Tallal Zeni. Actions plan: - We must return to the way of the Qur'ān & Sunnah together as a Ummah. - Increase in our acts of worship and refrain from anything that displeases Allāh. - Study and follow the way of the Sahābah in our speech, actions and sacrifice for the sake of Allāh. - Teach the next generation about these great men and woman so our role models are made clear. - Each companion represents different qualities that show not everyone is the same, so find your unique skill & passion and use it for supporting the Ummah. Virtue of The 10 Days of Dhul Hijjah & Shahādah Among the special seasons of worship are the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, which Allāh has preferred over all the other days of the year. Ibn 'Abbās reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allāh than these ten days.” The people asked, ‘Not even Jihād for the sake of Allāh?’ He ﷺ said, “Not even Jihād for the sake of Allāh, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing [was killed].” Ṣaḥīḥ Bukhārī (no. 969). Benefits from the narration: Virtue of the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah: - The great virtue of worship in the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah. - The first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are loved by Allāh. Virtue of performing righteous deeds: - It is proven that Salāh, reciting Qur’ān, giving charity and general righteous deeds are more rewarding in these days then doing them in the daytime of any other month. Virtue of Jihād: - Jihād was asked by the companions because they knew Jihād has a great status in Islām and the great virtue it carries as mentioned in the narration of Abū Dhār when he narrated, I asked the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ ‘Which action is the most virtuous?’ He replied, “Faith in Allāh and Jihād in His Cause.” Ṣaḥīḥ Bukhārī (no. 2518). - The companions asked “Not even Jihād for the sake of Allāh?” which shows the understanding of the companions that Jihād was one of the most virtuous deeds in Islām. Virtue of Shahādah in the way of Allāh: - The virtue of Shahādah – being killed in the path of Allāh – is clear from the narration , “except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing.” – this indicates that striving in the way of Allāh with wealth and ones life and being accepted as a Shahīd by Allāh is more rewarding then righteous deeds done in these days. - The Shahīd has many blessings, from them is all his sins are forgiven and is only accountable for debt. Abdullāh ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, “The martyr is forgiven for every sin except debt.” Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim (no. 1886). - The virtue of Shahīd is usually not mentioned by speakers today when mentioning this narration, but those that striving in the path of Allāh today with their wealth and life and are killed in the way of Allāh is more rewarding then all the righteous deeds done in the days of Dhul Hijjah. - The Prophet ﷺ measured the virtues of Dhul Hijjah against Jihād because the great virtue of the deed. Nothing surpasses worship in the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah in virtue except Shahādah in the way of Allāh. Action plan: - Strive hard in doing good deeds in these 10 days as much as possible. Like reciting Qur'ān, Salāh, charity and more. - Increase in making supplications and especially for those that are striving in the path of Allāh against oppression. - Plan the next few days and free some time every day for the remembrance of Allāh. Whoever preserves [understands] them will enter Paradise.” Sahīh Bukhārī [no. 7392] - “Whoever knows the names of Allāh and their meanings, believing in them, will have a more complete faith than the one who does not know them but just believes in them in general.” See Majmoū Al-Fatāwa [7/234] by Shaykhul Islām Ibn Taymīyyah. - “Whoever knows Allāh, knows everything other than Him. Whoever is ignorant of his Lord is even more ignorant of everything other than Him.” Madārij As-Sālikīn [vol. 3, p. 351] by Imām Ibn al-Qayyim. - "The key to the call of the Messengers, the essence of their Message, is knowing Allāh through His Names and Attributes and Deeds, because this is the foundation on which the rest of the Message, from beginning to end, is built." Sawā'iq al-Mursalah ala al-Jahamīyyah wal-Muattilah by Ibn al-Qayyim [1/150-151] - "The more a person learns about the Names and Attributes of Allāh, the more his faith increases and the stronger his conviction becomes." The Different Types of Hearts Types of Hearts There are three main types of hearts: 1 - A Sound & Healthy Heart: A sound and healthy heart is that which is attached to Allāh alone. A person with a true and sincere heart will: • Rely, love and hope in Allāh. • Forgive people for the sake of Allāh. • Control anger and desires for the sake of Allāh. • Be humble and kind with parents, spouse, friends, children for the sake of Allāh. • And all other praiseworthy traits of the heart. 2 - A Dead Heart: A dead heart is the opposite of a healthy heart. It does everything to please itself. It is slave of its own desires. If money is what a person with a dead heart desires, then he becomes a slave of money. He does everything and anything for the sake of earning money irrespective of whether it is earned in a Halāl or Harām way. 3 - A Sick Heart: A sick heart swings between a healthy and a dead heart. This person has love for Allāh, faith in his heart, sincerity towards his duties but at the same time, also loves his desires and prefers them. See for more information 'Lagāthatul Lahfān Fī Maṣāyid Ash-Shayṭān' by Imām Ibn Al-Qayyim (d. 751H). Action Plan: - Memorise the following supplications: اللهُمَّ طَهِّرْ قَلْبِي مِنْ كُلِّ سُوْءٍ “O Allāh purify my heart from every evil.” اللهُمَّ طَهِّرْ قَلْبِي مِنْ كُلِّ خُلُقٍ لا يُرْضِيْكَ “O Allāh, purify my heart from every characteristic that is not pleasing to You” اللهُمَّ طَهِّرْ قَلْبِي مِنَ الغِلِّ والحِقْدِ والحَسَدِ والكِبْرِ “O Allāh, purify my heart from hatred, resentment, jealousy, and arrogance.” Read & Share 📚 https://t.me/abuismailnotes
