What Kind of C++ Tutorials Should I Be Watching
I am trying to learn cpp for a future job as a game developer, so should I be watching tutorials on cpp in general or just mainly focus on the tutorials based towards game development? Maybe both?

Why this program is showing sum when I am giving operator input - ?
\#include<iostream>
using namespace std;

int main()
{
int num1,num2,result;
char opr;
cout<<"Enter First Number"<<endl;
cin>>num1;
cout<<"Enter Operator"<<endl;
cin>>opr;
cout<<"Enter Second Number"<<endl;
cin>>num2;

if(opr = '+')
{
result = num1+num2;
}
else if(opr = '-' )
{
result = num1-num2;
}

cout<<result;

A state machine with a bit more convenient & flexible syntax
https://github.com/Skoparov/csm
Just a small pet project I'd like to share. It's more of a proof of concept, but maybe someone will find it interesting.
Basically I've noticed that sometimes when dealing with relatively complex state machines I have to essentially repeat statements in the declaration of a transition table (with the only difference being the source state/the condition etc.), while it would be more convenient to just group them together. Couldn't really find this feature in any implementation I've stumbled upon on github, so I decided to try to implement it myself.
What do you think? Of course, any feedback is greatly appreciated.

C++ program is reading data from text file that isn't there any more
Hi guys, I'm running the code in visual studio codes on Pop OS, I've emptied a certain txt file where I'm storing my records in just to test something out. I find out that even after **emptying the file** or **even deleting the txt file,** my program is still running as if the txt file is with records or even there to begin with.
Here is the function that handles file reading:
void retrvInfo(Indivs *&indiv)
{
//Prepare the input stream from the file
ifstream inFile("Individuals.txt");
//Check the linked list "indiv" if it's already occpied if it is, refresh it
if(indiv->Name != ""){
indiv = new Indivs; // refresh indiv with an empty linked list
}
// Prepare string variable to temporarily store the string
string tmpStr;
//Prepare a temporary head pointer to append individuals to the list
Indivs *head = indiv;
// Scan the file until selected name is found
// If the name isn't found in the file do nothing and let the function return a null object
while (getline(inFile, tmpStr))
{
// Prepare a temporary object to hold the data
Indivs *tmpInd = new Indivs;
// store the data at indiv itself if it is NULL
if (indiv->Name == "")
{
// Add stop at different tabs and separate the string into substrings and store into the object
int frsTab = tmpStr.find("\t");
indiv->Name = tmpStr.substr(0, frsTab); // Indiv's name
int snTab = tmpStr.find("\t", frsTab + 1);
indiv->icNum = tmpStr.substr(frsTab + 1, snTab - frsTab - 1); // Indiv's IC number
int trTab = tmpStr.find("\t", snTab + 1);
indiv->age = stoi(tmpStr.substr(snTab + 1, trTab - snTab - 1)); // Indiv's age
int fhTab = tmpStr.find("\t", trTab + 1);
indiv->phNum = tmpStr.substr(trTab + 1, fhTab - trTab - 1); // Indiv's phone number
int fvTab = tmpStr.find("\t", fhTab + 1);
indiv->address = tmpStr.substr(fhTab + 1, fvTab - fhTab - 1); // Indiv's address
indiv->State = tmpStr.substr(fvTab + 1, tmpStr.size() - fvTab - 1); // Indiv's State
}
else
{
// Store into the temporary object
int frsTab = tmpStr.find("\t");
tmpInd->Name = tmpStr.substr(0, frsTab); // Indiv's name
int snTab = tmpStr.find("\t", frsTab + 1);
tmpInd->icNum = tmpStr.substr(frsTab + 1, snTab - frsTab - 1); // Indiv's IC number
int trTab = tmpStr.find("\t", snTab + 1);
tmpInd->age = stoi(tmpStr.substr(snTab + 1, trTab - snTab - 1)); // Indiv's age
int fhTab = tmpStr.find("\t", trTab + 1);
tmpInd->phNum = tmpStr.substr(trTab + 1, fhTab - trTab - 1); // Indiv's phone number
int fvTab = tmpStr.find("\t", fhTab + 1);
tmpInd->address = tmpStr.substr(fhTab + 1, fvTab - fhTab - 1); // Indiv's address
tmpInd->State = tmpStr.substr(fvTab + 1, tmpStr.size() - fvTab - 1); // Indiv's State
//Append to the list if indiv isn't NULL
while (head->nxInd != NULL)
{
head = head->nxInd; // move the head to the end of the list
}
//And then append to the list
head->nxInd = tmpInd;
}
}

Rules For Individuals
---------------------
* **Don't** create top-level comments - those are for employers.
* Feel free to reply to top-level comments with **on-topic** questions.
* I will create top-level comments for **meta** discussion and **individuals looking for work**.
Rules For Employers
---------------------
* You must be hiring **directly**. No third-party recruiters.
* **One** top-level comment per employer. If you have multiple job openings, that's great, but please consolidate their descriptions or mention them in replies to your own top-level comment.
* **Don't** use URL shorteners. [reddiquette](https://www.reddithelp.com/en/categories/reddit-101/reddit-basics/reddiquette) forbids them because they're opaque to the spam filter.
* Templates are awesome. Please **use** the following template. As the "formatting help" says, use \*\*two stars\*\* to **bold text**. Use empty lines to separate sections.
* **Proofread** your comment after posting it, and edit any formatting mistakes.

How can you compare an old variable(1st iteration) to a new one(2nd iteration)?
I wanted to check if a rank number like 8, was identical to another rank number(this is poker). I wanted to check if a variable is the same as the last variable that passed through(after 2 iterations of the for loop) without comparing the new variable that was just set. I hope i explained this well, if not please let me know! I tried messing around with an array to store the old variable without specifically telling the program where exactly i'm gonna put it! See the i++, i put for example '8' in the arr[1\], then the next iteration.. i check if that number arr[2\] is the same as arr[1\]. Am i doing this right or am i stupid?
if(arrDeckTwoi.find(rank) == rank)
{
rank = arri++;
deckTwoCount++;
if(deckTwoCount == 2 && rank == arri--){
deckTwoCount = 0;
cout << "/One Pair/" << endl;
cout << "Deck 1 has 1 pair of 2 matching, different suited counts of rank: " << rank << endl;
for(int i =0;i<5;i++){
cout << "The rank found was" << rank << " ";
}
}
}

C++ Mini-game based on OpenCV
Here is a Mini-game called ReactionGame which I created using OpenCV on C++
It measures a player's Reaction Time to Visual Stimuli and provides a score based on the time
Here is the GitHub Repo for ReactionGame: https://github.com/SagarDevAchar/ReactionGame
The Repository contains the Source Code and an Executable for the ReactionGame v1.1 along with required DLLs and Resource Files
It supports Keyboard Input only. OpenCV is used to create the Game Frames displayed and the user response to the frame is captured using
waitKey() which is pre-processed as required inside a custom function named gWaitKey()
Music was designed using FL Studio 20. The music gives the Game an Early 2000s Vibe :P
BGM is actively played in response to the user input using the PlaySound() function of windows.h
Coded on Code::Blocks in 17 hours and compiled to EXE using CMake and MinGW Makefiles
Please leave your feedback and suggestions! Do Share if you like it :D
